Rhythmbox Radio Problem

I run Mate 18.3 kernel 4.15.0-33 in W64.

Some radio programmes - mostly US music or college channels - run normally.
Until about 3 weeks ago I could also get UK radio stations e.g. BBC. Now I cannot - I just get a message about missing plug-ins.

I'd be grateful for advice.

Update error every time [Solved]

I've been ignoring this since I installed Mint a few months ago because I also get a message stating I have successfully applied all packages ! Error message: W: Target Packages (main/binary-amd64/Packages) is configured multiple times in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/additional-repositories.list:1 and /e...

Re: LibreOffice Presentation Box/Frame Dimensions

Has anyone experience of SoftMaker in Linux or any other program which can be used to make presentations i.e Powerpoint-like?
It doesn't have to be freeware/shareware providing it's not even more expensive than MS stuff.

Thanks!

How to Switch from Mint KDE 18.3 to Mate.

I run Mint KDE on a laptop but find it awkward compared with my Mate install on a desktop. Its a personal thing I guess. Is it reasonably simple to change DEs? If so, how? Or should I start afresh? I have everything backed up. If it is better to do a clean install, can I just install Mate over KDE f...

Re: LibreOffice Presentation Box/Frame Dimensions

Thanks. No it is not set to 'fit page'. The setting is 'original size' which must mean the page size specified in the program. I have a feeling that the problem might having something to do with the printer driver. I've been using a generic one because the Canon driver specified for this printer sim...

LibreOffice Presentation Box/Frame Dimensions

I am using Mint 18.3 KDE on a laptop. As part of a presentation, I wish to frame a photograph with a fine line. So, the frame is drawn a little larger than the photo and printed on a sheet of 100g paper. The photograph is then applied to the sheet using adhesive photo corners. My problem is that the...

Re: Boot/efi on triple boot

Thank you, this is perfect. I was asking about editing the grub menu, but also asking what is the function of a mount point. Is it optional? If not, when should it be used and why?

Thanks again for your interest and support. This Linux has a learning curve, but I am getting there. :)

Re: Boot/efi on triple boot

I'm not sure what you are asking. Every Linux system's file system starts at / root. Whatever your root device is it becomes /. So if you install a second Linux it will have its own / root partition. If you're wondering if there should more other partitions for your Linux install - there can be, e....

Re: Boot/efi on triple boot

Thanks. They are on different disks so I'll do that.

Is it usual for there to be only one mount / partition? At the moment it is on the Mint partition but that doesn't change the order in the Grub menu.

Boot/efi on triple boot

I run Mint Mate, W10 and I recently installed another distro. The install turned out to be corrupt and I deleted the partition. What I did not realise, being newish to this game, was that I also deleted the /boot/efi. When I booted all I got was the grub prompt. Pressing F12 did not help. I did a li...

Re: ID Partitions

Thank you JOPETA, I didn't fully understand the bash syntax, or the idea that both operating systems were installed in an efi partition.

Steep learning curve, this Linux, but getting there :)

Thanks for help.

Re: ID Partitions

Thanks very much, catweazel. Sometimes, small variations in language usage can be confusing. I am not a stupid person  I didn't realise 18.3 KDE would be supported for another 3 years. That is the way to go. No need for a different distro to explore KDE. I've no knowledge of Clonezilla or how ...

Re: ID Partitions

2. Where should I install the second Linux distro? With all due respect, shouldn't you be asking whomever the people are who put that second distro together? I don't understand that question. The only reason I posted here is because Linux KDE has been dropped from 19, and I wanted to experiment wit...

ID Partitions [SOLVED]

I am planning to install a second Linux distro on a dual boot system with Windows 10. The original plan was to install this second distro on an external HDD but I realise that there is plenty of space on existing internal HDDs. As things stand, everything works perfectly in both Mint and W10. Networ...
