Re: LM14 Cinnamon, MDM and Workspace selector

I have found a work around: LXDE . Just tried Lubuntu 12.10 this weekend. It looks minimalist but I am finally relieved to have a computer which does not pop up stuffs I don't want or hide important feature I want (the scrollbar). No more excessive distracting 3D, transparent effects. As luck would ...

Re: LM14 Cinnamon, MDM and Workspace selector

The hot corner you can disable in Cinnamon Settings in 10 seconds - what is the problem? The problem is that even when the hot corner is disabled, the Expo screen still pops up randomly. I have found somewhere on this forum that you should go to System Settings, Windows and disable the edge effects...

Re: LM14 Cinnamon, MDM and Workspace selector

Expo comes up if your mouse enters the top left corner of your screen or if you hit ctrl+alt+up - I haven't heard of it just popping up randomly before. Fooling around in the menu I have seen that Top-Left Hot Corner option. I have disabled but the issue remains and I am 100% certain that when the ...

LM14 Cinnamon, MDM and Workspace selector

Hi, I am testing LM14 Cinnamon x64 in virtualbox and on a laptop. I find two visual design annoyance right in the first 5 minutes: - The MDM login screen still requires to type login name and password. You said that the Selectable user list has been implemented. But how come there is no button on th...

Re: Why did they choose MDM?

I am trying LM13 xfce in a VM and the MDM login screen is still there. Based on the description of New features in Linux Mint 13 : MDM is a new Display Manager, which code is based on GDM 2.20. It provides graphical configuration tools, themeability, remote, automatic and timed login, event scriptin...

Re: Help with ssd

Hi, It looks like 4GB RAM is not enough for LM13 x64. After half of a day, the machine experiences little strange behavior with Firefox 13. FF 13 is slow when the window is dragged around and has experiences a perceivable reduction of responsiveness. Clicking in a folder in the FF bookmark toolbar n...

Re: Help with ssd

First the easy part, at the end of this file add the following two lines. These change it so temporary files are stored in memory instead of on your SSD. none /tmp tmpfs nodev,nosuid,mode=1777 0 0 none /var/tmp tmpfs nodev,nosuid,mode=1777 0 0 Hi Vincent, I hope you won't mind if I resuscitate this...

My version is 1.4.0
Works OK thanks. Would be more intuitive if the version info is displayed in the Cinnamon Settings applet.

Re: Cinnamon 1.4 How to remove lock screen icon?

Not possible (outside hacking the .js file). Consider using one of the other menu applets if it continues to niggle: http://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/applets Problem SOLVED! Thanks to your link, I discover the classicMenu. Thank you to you to make a it PPA. classicMenu: I'd like to set the numb...

What Cinnamon version do I have?

Hi,

Is there anyway to read the version number of Cinnamon? I know that it's Cinnamon 1.4 which is shipped with LM 13. But let's say in the future, when there will be several updates, how do I know which version of Cinnamon I currently have?

Re: Why did they choose MDM?

That said I also think they should have stuck with LightDM - simple, pretty, easy to use, doesn't get in the way. The default MDM screen looks and feels at least ten years behind LightDM, but it doesn't make you think "Ubuntu" and that may be some of the reason it's there. Agreed 100%. Tried LM13 C...

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to answer. It's fairly technically advanced for me the really grasp all the meaning. However, I now have enough information to complete the configuration. Thanks.

Re: How to add launch icons in top panel?

Hi,

Finally I could login using Cinnamon. It was Virtualbox 4.1.8 that caused the black screen issue after log in. Now with Virtualbox 4.1.10, no more black screen. Finally I can test Cinnamon.
