Could you post a screenshot of the menu/s that you can't get to activate?

Re: Lenovo Campus Thinkpad X390 20Q1S02M00 - microSD not available?

If you put a formatted micro-sd card in and it isn't in the file system, or after looking in Disks, then apparently Mint is not seeing it. As to making it work, I don't know, but some one here might.

Re: Should I upgrade my AMD 2-core processor?

My experience support's spearment2's post. A few things might improve a wee bit, but nothing big. The bottleneck is mostly storage speed. An SSD is a better upgrade money wise.

Re: M2 upgrade help?

You mentioned Clonezila. It is what I use. Many times I've changed to a bigger storage disk. You can use a portable drive to make the image and then remove the old M2 and put in the new. Use your image and put it on the new drive. After booting Mint, you can use Disks or download Gparted from the So...

Re: black screen on boot

Maybe just a fresh install of Mint 19.2. Sometimes that turns out to be the quickest method and there's nothing like fresh a Mint

The free space depends of how many apps and data. If you look at my post with the highlighted root partition you can see how much mine took.

Re: Unknown Installation Issue

Did you choose the option to erase disk and install Mint? Did this laptop come from factory with Win 10 or 7?

Re: Linux mint kernel update problem

Should go to regular mode with reboot, unless something is wrong. You can also choose the first option at the grub boot and that should boot it normally.

Try the refresh option at the top of update manager. See if refreshing just leaves the one newer one.

Re: Repair wonky usb devices?

If you have valuable files on it, copy them to a safe location temporarily, and then use disks to reformat the drive. You can even put a fresh MBR partition table on it first with Disks from the hamburger menu upper right. Format it to FAT and then put a file on it to see if it behaves for deleting.

Re: A problem booting the linuxmint-mate-64bit.

If you have a flash drive, copy your mint iso file to your desktop and get Universal USB Installer. Use it to make your bootable Mint installer to that flash drive.

The Flash drive can be used as media to make a Windows recovery, but you need a portable hard drive to store the image on.

Re: Dual Boot Linux Mint 19.1 and Windows 7

For recovery images you need a portable hard drive. It could also be used for the Mint install. It will have a longer life than thumb drive. If you are satisfied with the thumb drive setup, my advice is to use it. It will likely last a long time. Reads don't wear them out. A lot of writes do, but a ...

Re: Dual Boot Linux Mint 19.1 and Windows 7

Thanks for that info. The current hard drive has about 260GB data/programs etc on it - so there is room for me to set aside 150GB for Linux. So when I would repartition to set aside the 150GB, does that get named something? Will it just be called Free Space - so that I will know where to put the Mi...

Re: Dual Boot Linux Mint 19.1 and Windows 7

Looks like you will need to resize Win 7 NTFS 484GB partition. Installing along side needs sufficient space; it won't create it automatically. To shrink the space you can use MiniTool Partition Wizard Free 11, or something like it. Installing along side should then work ok. As far as sharing files y...
