Re: Enable auto login

He fills his account in the field, reboots and the password is still being asked for and needed to login. I'm puzzled here. With autologin there should be nothing to "fill in his account field" unlees you mean fill in the password. Is there more than one account? Post the output of: getent passwd {...

I don't see on your site where I can donate?
It's FOSS and have no plans to change. :D
That's a generous commitment. I like the GUI green background and overall layout. Well done!

Re: cloning a drive

Try foxclone, a simple to use linux image backup utility.
Very good app! Put it thru several tests. Recovered Mint with Ext4 and Btrfs. Also a recovery of Win10. I don't see on your site where I can donate? I put Clonezilla on the back burner and plan on using Foxclone.

Flash drives mount, but don't open in Mint 20 Cinnamon

I'm having an issue with flash drives and Mint 20 Cinnamon. When I first plug them in, they mount to the desktop, but don't open the directory on the desktop. A few brands do, but most don't. Oddly, sometimes they act normally, but if I reboot it starts again. This started with the Cinnamon packages...

Re: Newly Installed LM 19.3 Cinnamon Boot Takes Over One Minute

Yeah, that's very likely. I think I can remember seeing a Windows 7 sticker on the laptop when I bought it and Windows 10 upon booting. There was no compatibility mode on the grub menu, Advanced mode in the place of Compatibility mode with options i don't understand. In the Advanced Mode choose Rec...

There is an md5sum on the website.
Thanks, don't know how I missed seeing that. I'm used to right clicking iso files and choose Check SHA256

Re: Newly Installed LM 19.3 Cinnamon Boot Takes Over One Minute

Maybe it was upgraded to Win 10 and had Win 7 without secure boot from the factory. Maybe someone else can help. Did you try compatibility mode at the Grub boot menu and time the boot? https://linuxmint-installation-guide.re ... tions.html

Need the exact name of the file you want to open in Hearts. Plus what version of Mint are you using? Cinnamon 19.3?

Re: Newly Installed LM 19.3 Cinnamon Boot Takes Over One Minute

Is secure boot off in your motherboard settings? It should be turned off.
Take a look at the output of

Code: Select all

blkid
and

Code: Select all

cat /etc/fstab
If some UUID's are not matching, each will cause a 90 second delay.

Re: Can't Boot Mint 20 from USB memory stick

No solid idea other than the iso has not got perfect graphics drivers? Hopefully once installed and updated, all will be good. Don't forget to keep in mind you may need to go that for your 1st boot after install. Until the system gets updates installed. Access the menu by tapping the ESC key right a...

Re: New laptop, can't crush windows to make room

Why can't you boot to Win 10 and use Disk Manager to shrink it? Ahh, OK, good plan, thank you. That worked, I only hope I have left enough room for win10 to work again. :) But I did notice Recovery Partition, be interesting to see if it swamps the Mint install when recovering. Might give it a try f...
