Re: What is your favorite internet search engine and why?

I can select a piece of text and with one mouse click it searches for the content on DuckDuckGo. With Startpage that feature doesnt work. You have a problem in your device - it works for me. I just had to add StartPage to my search engines and then choose StartPage as a default SE in Firefox settin...

Re: Lmde 3 beta

Isn't there a welcome screen with codecs to install? if not try synaptic search There is a welcome screen but not like the WS on Mint. Mint's WS has an option for drivers, while LMDE has no such a thing. I also couldn't find Synaptic, altough that's not a problem cuz I can easily install it. I inst...

Re: [SOLVED]Anyone aware of Conky (cpu temperature)?

just for the information value... The current conky wiki is here: https://github.com/brndnmtthws/conky/wiki and as the developer mentions, the ${hwmon} option is the preferred method, as opposed to exec and using sensors and grep and cut, etc. Today I discovered{hwmon 0 temp 2} shows the actual cha...

Re: Lmde 3 beta

I notice there is no "Driver Manager" on LMDE3. For many this would not matter too much, but when you have an Nvidia GPU, it's annoying. Opening only a few browser tabs on Firefox soon causes Nouveau to freeze up. I was just going to give up on LMDE3 until i thought i would try the Software Manager...

Shortcut keys for long key combinations?

Took me a while to figure out how to make a bullet point (•) appear in the text and now with some help from outside I can do it. But I was wondering is there any way to setup a shortcut key(s) for that key combination: Ctrl+Shift+U+2022+interval? In short, this is how the bullet point appears: Press...

just as GOD intended. :D You mean "just as Clem intended". As for answering the topic, I also played with that setting once, just as lsemmens did and I also found it was a pain in the S. That's probably the only thing that can't compare to the Windows' single click - in Windows the single...

I hate it even more when I ask a question and nobody shows up at all but I guess that's just because I ask weird questions which interest no one.
That's why when I have a question, I don't rely on one source only. So I ask my question here and also in 3 Fakebook groups.

Re: What is your favorite internet search engine and why?

I use Google because it gives me more detailed results. Google displays infinite number of pages with images, while DickDuckGo only shows 1 or 2 and that's it.

Just found another reason to hate Windows :D

Linux (Mint, in particular) never ceases to surprise me and I just found another reason to hate... no, not Linux - to hate Windows. I've got a relatively cheap audio 2.1 system Microlab M-300U and in Windows I never had such a wonderful sound experience that leaves me with my eyes like that: :...

Re: Uneven sound levels on movies - partial fix I found

Hi Valsodar, I just read your post and the good replies to it. Here are my thoughts on this as well. It would help to know more about your system setup. If you run " inxi -Fxzd " from the console terminal prompt, highlight the results, copy and paste them back here, that should provide enough infor...

I'd rather resize the source partition(s).
You mean the target partition. The source partition is inside the image and you can't resize it. Well, you can, actually by editing the proper text file but it's not recommended to do it.

Looks like you have reduced the font size. Go to Menu --> Settings --> Fonts, see which font was set to a number lower than 8 and change it to a more normal value.

Re: Looking for a DVD player that actually plays DVDs

Recently I watched "Maximum Overdrive" from a DVD and it played fine on SMPlayer v18.5.0. I'm talking about the real DVD format with all the VOB files and stuff. You just have to click on the "Open..." menu, the disk icon and select "DVD from device" or "DVD from folder" and that's it. Or, if you're...

Re: clonezilla stuck at transfer point

If your new drive is smaller, you need to resize the old partitions first. There's no need for that. If you know exactly how much space your OS has taken and it's less than the size of the new partition, there's an option in Clonezilla under "Advanced options" to make it skip checking partition siz...

What a coincidence - I made a t-shirt with the same logo and color 3 months ago. Only the incription I used was different. 2 questions about Cinnamon DE

1. Is it possible to update only Cinnamon to a newer version and remain with 18.3? If "yes", how? 2. According to its description it's a "full deskt...

Nah, I don't close anything. Just suspend it to RAM. Takes 2 seconds to powerdown/wake up.
