I wasn't talking about safety but about the fact that they often don't work - the app just won't start. Like Gifcurry - downloading the appimage from the app website and it still won't start.

Re: New installation Clipgrab not working
Apparently there's a problem with the program dependencies. Simply download youtube-dl from here (see the first link below), unpack it with File-Roller somewhere and copy the contents of the archive as root to the root directory of Mint. Then Clipgrab will work. I've done things like that (with pack...

That's why I love Cinnamon (just a feedback, no need to reply)
People often ask me what is it exactly that I like about Cinnamon "when KDE is so much more" (their words). Well, here's the main reason I LOVE Cinnamon:

Re: Where are these two icons located (Cinn 4.6.7)?
Nvm, found them. I'll post their locations in case someone else wants to change them. The network icon: /usr/share/icons/Adwaita/16x16/devices/network-wired-symbolic.symbolic.png /usr/share/icons/Adwaita/24x24/devices/network-wired-symbolic.symbolic.png /usr/share/icons/Adwaita/32x32/devices/network...

Where are these two icons located (Cinn 4.6.7)?
Does anyone know where these two icons in Cinnamon 4.6.7 are located? https://i.imgur.com/OMED7KM.png I wanna change them, especially the network icon cuz it's butt ugly. So far I've checked every single folder inside /usr/share/icons/hicolor/ but these two icons are nowhere to be seen. I'm out of i...

Problem with copying files from HDD to SSD (Mint 18.3 and 19.1)
Consider this topic a bug report. There's something wrong with these two versions of Mint but unfortunately IDK enough about linux to identify the cause of the problem. A large file - Taxi (1998).mkv with size 3.4 GB copied from HDD (WD Blue) to SSD (Corsair 120 LE): • Windows 7 - 1 minute 12 second...

Re: Some feedback about Cinnamon 4.x
Cinnamon is now it's own project because it's used by other distributions. Your comments might be seen by the devs on the Cinnamon github pages: https://github.com/linuxmint/cinnamon We rarely get devs here as these are support forums. Thanks, cat, I didn't know that. I've always thought Cinnamon i...

Some feedback about Cinnamon 4.x
In Cinnamon 3.8 and older versions the text in tray (such as calendar, kb layout) was resized according to the panel size which was a very convenient feature. In Cinnamon 4.x I noticed you have removed that feature and the text remains microscopic (12px or so) no matter what size the user has set fo...

Re: Upgrade from Mint 18.3 to 19
If it were, wouldn't it be all over these forums? Not many users would take the time to report any errors. When seeing such an error most users would simply go back to the distro they know and that works for them, not bothering to report anything at all. If the problem were local, then pls explain ...

19.1 installation failed
I decided to install 19.1 in order to see its progress in general, so I downloaded the 19.1 x64 Cinnamon edition from the Bulgarian NETIX mirror. Shortly after I entered the data for creating a user, I saw a message that there was an error with copying files to the storage device. The message also c...

Re: What is the command to restart Cinnamon in the applet "restart-cinnamon"?
Ha, that works! I didn't even know there was already a shortcut for it.
Now all I have to do is to find it and set more convenient keys for it.
Thanks, rene.

Thanks, rene.

[SOLVED] What is the command to restart Cinnamon in the applet "restart-cinnamon"?
I'm using an applet called "Restart Cinnamon" and when Cinnamon is ok, it's perfectly usable. However, sometimes Cinnamon freezes for unknown reasons and when that happens, I can't click that applet in order to restart the DE. So I looked for commands to restart Cinnamon in another way. I ...

Re: Desktop context menu (right click) background color
The desktop context menus are themed in gtk.css I had a quick look to see if I could work out the selector to theme the desktop context menu only leaving other gtk menus default for that theme, but without success. If I work it out I'll let you know. The reason I asked is because I managed to chang...

Overriding interface theme for 2 applications?
I use Pinta and KolourPaint4 like 10 times a day and since they adopted the theme I made (by editing an existing one), it's hard to find the tools I need on their interface. It was hard even before editing the theme. I've also disabled the function "use dark theme for apps when available" ...

Desktop context menu (right click) background color
I'm making a theme of my own and I changed the most of the elements I wanted - panel and menu background color, selected item background color, etc. in cinnamon.css. But I can't find the item/the line that will let me change the color of the menu which appears when right clicking on the desktop. Doe...

Re: Increased text-shadows on Desktop
Using this instruction and considering CSS is still CSS as far as the CPU is concerned, I started looking for better solutions (cuz text shadow as shown above isn't really my style) and eventually found the perfect one! It even has its own generator of outlining code. And with some minor tweaking I ...
