Re: I Want to Blank my Screen as a Screensaver

If you are happy with the results of using the Turn Off Screen applet, then why not just disable the Screensaver so that it never kicks in? If that's what you are wanting, then open System Settings/Screensaver/ and in the top section entitled 'Screensaver settings', next to 'Delay before starting th...

Re: How to disable/don't show the cinnamon panel ?

If it were me, and I didn't want the panel anymore, I would right-click on the panel, select Modify Panel, then select Remove Panel. Poof..... no more panel.

Re: Panel clock resizing issue after upgrading to 19.1

It is most likely an issue with the theme being used. I had to use this method in order to increase the size of my calendar/clock after doing the 19.1 upgrade. If you will go here https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=237278 you will find complete step by step instructions. It's really easy t...

Re: Cinnamon Problems After Upgrade - Thunderbird & Favorites Menu - SOLVED

Thanks! Reinstalling Thunderbird after a reboot solved it. Don't know why I didn't think of it - age I guess. I'm still seeing minor weirdness on the Favorites menu, but that's not a big deal. You are most welcome! Wish all issues were that easy to resolve. :) Also, regarding the menu, have you eve...

Re: Cinnamon Problems After Upgrade - Thunderbird & Favorites Menu

Missing Information: Thunderbird 60.2.1 (64 bit) I use the same version of T-bird, and I have had no issues at all after doing the upgrade from 19 to 19.1 LM Cinnamon. I use TB several times a day, both sending and receiving, and it still works flawlessly. Might I suggest that you backup your .thun...

Re: Flashing black borders around windows with Nvidia-390 and Mint 19

Unfortunately the upgrade to Linux Mint 19.1 did not resolve the issue for me :( Update: Although updating from kernel 4.15.0-43 to 4.18.0-13 (through the Update Manager this time, instead of doing it manually like I tried before) for now seems to solve the issue. I've had before that it seems to w...

Re: How To Turn off VSYNC in the System Settings in 19.1

I found where the new setting switch is at in System Settings. I share this for anyone else who might have the same question in the future. As I suspected, it does not rely on what graphics card you are using, or how much memory you have installed, etc... Within the System Settings app, click on the...

Re: How To Turn off VSYNC in the System Settings in 19.1

Thing is, from my limited understanding of Linux Mint, and version 19.1 in particular, I do not believe that any given setting that is located in the System Settings app depends on what particular hardware the user has. For example, the Screensaver section is in the same location no matter who is us...

Re: How To urn off VSYNC in the System Settings in 19.1

i would take a look at the following article below to see if you actually want to shut off vsync...DAMIEN https://www.maketecheasier.com/what-is-vsync/ Thanks for the link to the article. I read it, and now have a better understanding of what it is, and what it does. To answer if I really want to s...

SOLVED: How To Turn off VSYNC in the System Settings in 19.1

I have just completed the upgrade to Linux Mint 19.1 Cinnamon from 19.0. All went well, and I'm very happy with the new features. However, there is one feature that is mentioned in the 'New Features' blog post about turning off VSYNC. The article says "You now also have the possibility to turn off V...

Re: How To Keep My Trackball Wakeup Flag Enabled?

Also looking at what I suggested to you I just facepalmed because I took your question too literally. You asked to set the flag on boot and on resume, but on second thought I don't think that's actually necessary, it should be enough if you set it just before you sleep............ Give it a try, se...

Re: How To Keep My Trackball Wakeup Flag Enabled?

Thank you VERY much! Your solution worked for setting the flag upon reboot, or boot from an off state, however it does not set the flag when waking up from sleep. So, it's 50% effective, and I call that progress! I also have now learned a bit of how to make executable script files, and I also thank ...
