Re: naming terminals

This didn't work. I got to system settings > preferred applications (see screenshot)
preferred_apps.png
but the terminal button did not offer a drop-down menu. Is there a way to install alternative terminals?

Re: naming terminals

I may have this handled: open System Settings >> Preferred Applications >> and select Terminal ? I will try that. Thanks again.

Thanks you. I was not aware that different terminals were available. Any suggestions on how to change mine?

naming terminals

When using NetBSD i found it useful to name the tabs of the terminal emulators I was using: vi, ./, top and so on. I have not been able to discover how to do this in Linux Mint. Is there a way?

how to make vi default editor for visudo

I am familiar with vi and vim. I am not very familiar with nano. When I call visudo I am compelled to use nano. I would prefer to have vi as my default visudo editor rather than having to learn nano. How can I do this?

Re: Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon No Sound

Should I mark this thread as "solved"? The problem is fixed but I didn't solve anything.
How would I so mark this (and any other) thread?

Re: mounting nfs problem

Never mind (kudos Emily Litella). I found the problem.
I am embarrassed to admit it but I hadn't done mkdir d1 since my last install of Mint.
Thank you for your patience-

I will try without the "defaults".
I don't know what version of nfs I am using. How can I find out?

mounting nfs problem SOLVED

My Mint Linux 19 Cinnamon won't mount files on my fileserver, although it used to. My fileserver ratliff runs RAID5 under NetBSD7 and is 192.168.0.2. mountd1 is a shell script: # mountd1.sh # a simple script to mount d1 on ratliff #!/bin/bash sudo mount -vt nfs -o defaults 192.168.0.2:/d1 /mnt/d1 ex...

Re: Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon No Sound

Hi MrEen
I agree. I sucks.
1) do you think I should mark our conversation as "solved". As you know the problem really isn't solved.
2) I need a refresher on how to so mark a thread.

Thanks again -
