Re: Problems installing software on Linux Mint

i agree with the top of stormetder's post. "No reason to apologize, we've all been there. This is a good place to learn. Generally its not recommended for inexperienced users to run software that doesn't come from the software manager, if you need help with a specific driver or have any other proble...

Re: what are the key things that could be improved in firefox?

I started using Firefox before it got the 1.0 release, and for a long time there was no question it was the best browser available. Somewhere along the way, it started to suck. It would get bogged down, hog resources massively, crash with some greater frequency, and don't even get me started on Fir...

I think a better way is to use xdg-open like this:

Code: Select all

xdg-open https://www.google.com/
xdg-open will open the URL in your preferred browser, much better than hard-coding a browser in the command.
done thanks

Re: Creating website URL shortcut on desktop

Right click on the desktop, then click "Create a new launcher here." Name it whatever you like. For the command, use: firefox https://lastpass.com/index . Add a comment if you like. Click OK, and you are done. +1 just what the doctored for "Plex Media Server" "vivaldi http://127.0.0.1:32400/web"
