Re: How do I create a bootable USB drive with W10 in Mint 19.1?

depends on the specs of the laptop. is it mbr, uefi. or both? i found the default boot media creator in mint is worthless. for uefi i found unetbootin works great, and for mbr woeusb works great. https://www.pendrivelinux.com/using-unetbootin-to-create-a-linux-usb-from-linux/ http://www.webupd8.org/...

Re: Firefox 65.0 update--recheck your preferences

I set that to Startpage.com, but after each update it's back to bloody Yahoo. yea i noticed that it gets changed to YakPoo! as well. it does that even if you have removed it and the other sear...

Re: Firefox 65.0 update--recheck your preferences

Re: Install Virtualbox 6.0 in Mint 19.1

well - that's only what I've been reading, on some other Forums, & the result(s) that they did find. :? for myself - I'm still running V5.2.x on all of my PCs - at least for the fore-see-able future, anyway. i might be one of the lucky ones. like with the post i just made about timeshift pretty sur...

Re: Timeshift: I have disabled it

"There is Zilch wrong with Timeshift.........." actually there are issues with timeshift, and i'm not the only one to run into it. back in september i decide to give linux another go after not testing distros for several years. in october i landed on mint cinnamon and was extremely happy with how fa...

Re: [SOLVED] How to start Mint directly without showing boot menu.

Nope not a bug - the default for a single boot Mint install is not to show the screen without user interaction. Holding left-shift at boot should show it even if hidden. ok thanks for that. then it must of been something buggy o my end, cause till the update to 19.1 i always had it. under 5 seconds...

Re: [SOLVED] How to start Mint directly without showing boot menu.

i know this is a dead thread(pun intended)but am i right in assuming that the following is why i don't see the grub menu when i restart? and before someone ask no i just took a quick look at it and closed it back out without making any changes. GRUB_DEFAULT=0 GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=hidden GRUB_TIMEOUT=0...

Re: Privacy is not just a personal matter

“Arguing that you don't care about the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different than saying you don't care about free speech because you have nothing to say. It’s a deeply anti social principle because rights are not just individual, they’re collective, and what may not hav...
