Re: Loading Video VGA on GRUB with Docking Station Lenovo USB

I'm not really sure if you have this option with a desktop + USB dock, but you can try going into the BIOS and force the boot display to use the dock's output. That's what I did on my Thinkpad so that when it is docked, I don't have to open it to choose which OS to boot.

Re: 'libkf5config-data': Input/output error

Have tried reinstalling the package libkf5config-data ?

To do so, you can try one of the following :

Code: Select all

$ sudo apt install --reinstall libkf5config-data

Code: Select all

$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure libkf5config-data

Re: Trouble restarting

Try holding the Shift key or Esc key on boot to see if you can make the menu show up : https://askubuntu.com/questions/16042/h ... -boot-time

Then you should be able to select the previous kernel version and see if it boots.

Re: USB-C Power Delivery not working with external Battery

Maybe. But I don't think so. The same computer is being sold with a 45W charger which likely uses 15V@3A. What if the problem lies elsewhere? Where could I start looking? If the 65W charger outputs 20V, then the 45W outputs 20V too. In addition to that, every single Thinkpad I've come across has a ...

Re: Trouble restarting

There may have been a kernel update that messed things up. Can you access grub to boot with the older kernel ?

I'm almost wondering if the SD Card slot in the PC has something intermittent going on with it, but it always worked before as far as I know.

That was my guess too. Are 100% positive that it has always worked ?

Re: Trouble restarting

What is the update that you have done ? Was it to switch to a newer Mint version (for example 18.3 to 19) ? Or just regular updates ?

Re: Loading Video VGA on GRUB with Docking Station Lenovo USB

Judging by the inxi output, you are using a ThinkCentre, which is a desktop... I'm failing to understand why you would use a dock ?

Re: Brightness Control

Since you are using Cinnamon, you can try using the "Redshift" applet, which works like a charm ! Its main purpose is to reduce eye strain at night by reducing blue light, but you can manually enter a colour in Kelvin so maybe you can set it for your use case.

In the future, pay very close attention when installing a package warns you about removing other packages.

(And this applies to me too !)

Re: I can't access my system settings

It sounds like some core packages are missing, maybe they have been removed when you tried to install another one. (That happened to me  )

Try the following and see if the situation improves :

Code: Select all

sudo apt update && sudo apt install mint-meta-cinnamon cinnamon nemo

Re: USB-C Power Delivery not working with external Battery

Well, there's a good chance that your problem lies here. The computer expects a 20V input when you are feeding 15V

Re: Davinci Resolve no response

I downloaded the software to give it a try, I must say that the windows-like installer is quite ugly... It looks like everything is stored under /opt/resolve , and the program looks like it's in /opt/resolve/bin . I'm getting some errors myself while trying to launch it, but can't help you any furth...
