Re: no full 5.1

Hi there! Felicia uses pulseaudio and you need to set it to use 6 channels. This is how you do it: 1. open /etc/pulse/daemon.conf as root - with command: sudo gedit /etc/pulse/daemon.conf and you'll be asked for you password - graphically: go to /etc, open the pulse folder as root by right clicking ...

Re: The Linux Mint Newsletter - Issue 62

If any of you have ideas for how we can make Mint more known please feel free to leave a comment. I’ve been thinking for a while now that having micro sites for particular releases would be a good way of advertising. Say, just before the release of Mint 6 we launch micro site about that release to ...

Re: Keyboard layout switching problem

Oh, I'm very sorry Husse for not making it clear. I'm satisfied now and happy for how it works. It is a weird behaviour (I mean the system/keyboard not myself ;-) ) and it would be interesting to know how and why it happens, but I wouldn't expect anyone to take long hours for investigating it. So I'...

Re: Keyboard layout switching problem

Hi and thanks again! I'm not sure if adding: Option "XkbLayout" "gb,se,pl" changed anything but, there has been some development :-) One of the problems with switching was that even though I have 3 languages set, I could switch only between the 2 first ones by clicking on the keyboard applet. After ...

Re: Keyboard layout switching problem

HI and thanks for your reply, merlwiz79! The commands give the following output: przemek@peppermint ~ $ gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd layouts = [gb,se,pl] model = options = [grp grp:alts_toggle] overrideSettings = true przemek@peppermint ~ $ xprop -root | grep XKB _XKB_RULES...

Re: Keyboard layout switching problem

I thought that perhaps the keyboard settings fail to load when the system starts or they are not saved before quiting. Sometimes there is a conflict of some sort between X-server's settings and Gnome's, though I don't remember anything like that on Elyssa. These were my ideas about what could be the...

Re: Keyboard layout switching problem

Thank you a lot Husse for all the time, energy and trouble you take to help to solve this issue. I appreciate it a lot! I experienced the same problem as you, search phrase is very difficult to form to get what you are looking for. I'll have a closer look at the commands you mentioned. Anyway, it'd ...

Re: Keyboard layout switching problem

Ok, i guess i wasn't too clear in my first post. GBr is the only layout I can use without problems (it's the default one). If I click the keyboard indicator on the panel to switch to Swedish i get such: Jæŋ ħeŧe¶ ¶øøŧĸøłßĸ→...etc. If i click again it doesn't switch to Polish, but back to GBr. Even i...

Keyboard layout switching problem

Hi! I have a problem on my Elyssa with switching keyboard layout. As default I have set GB. I sometimes need Swedish and Polish too, so (as in previous versions of Mint) I added additional languages using the Preferences/Keyboard/Layouts thingy. Now, just when it's set it works just as it should. Bu...

Re: Linux Mint 5 Elyssa RC2 (BETA 048) is out!

RC2 is great, but I'm utterly lost as to what controls my disk mounting.... I can't find MintDisk anywhere, this seems to not be part of the system anymore? And in /etc/fstab, most of my disks are not listed. However, if I go to Computer, my NTFS/FAT32 are listed by name, and if I click on them the...

Re: Linux Mint 5 Elyssa RC2 (BETA 048) is out!

I found a little problem. There seems to be no way to play quicktime movies online (check http://www.apple.com/getamac/ads/ ). I got it working on mandriva via totem and gstreamer, but i can't watch such files on Elyssa. Or are there some settings I could tweak to get it working? Cheers! Edit: now i...

Re: Linux Mint 5 Elyssa RC2 (BETA 048) is out!

@ rootkowski Are you swedish? omfattande > extensive My disk is not very big - about 160 GB - but some 10 partitions This is not good, we may have a serious bug in Hardy ubiquty (We use that for Elyssa) I'm not swedish but I lived in Sweden long enough to learn the language :-) Now, when it comes t...

Re: Linux Mint 5 Elyssa RC2 (BETA 048) is out!

@ rootkowski Do you have a complicated partition structure - I've reported a bug in Ubiquty - no grub if more than a handful partitions and guided partitioning First the installer crashed just before installign grub This happened to me also - but not if I chose the manual option - only for guided F...

Re: Linux Mint 5 Elyssa RC2 (BETA 048) is out!

I had a sleepless night with LM5 and this is why. I burnt the iso and booted. Everything worked great. I really like Elyssa! Really good job. I definitely want it as my main system. But some problems did occur. 1. Firefox crashes after watching flash videos (it varies for how long, sometimes 5min, s...

Update for xserver

There has been an update for xserver for quite a while now. I have been hesitating if I should install it or not. The thing is I don't know if it's safe. Can I just run this update or should I for example uninstall nvidia drivers first? The available packages (in mintUpdate) are: xserver-xorg-core x...

The only result of refreshing the list when the gui is opened is that then it adds one more loop of: starting refresh found 1 recommended software updates refresh finished As an example of available updates I attach a picture http://rootkowski.com/static/mint/kernel.png ...and the sources.list: ## -...

Re: Linux Kernel Vunerability

It's only some headers And it's only if you have more than one user that something bad could happen But on the other hand we all have at least two users - root and the "Superuser" Sorry, I don't really understand. When I mark linux-image synaptic doesn't tell me to install anything else, but that f...
