I just solved it on my system by installing the compizconfig-settings-manager plus the required package (that synaptic asks you to install as well). Now I have Advanced Desktop Effects.

I can say the same. Just installed stable Daryna and the advanced settings option is nowhere to be found. I checked also if maybe it's disabled in the menu's settings but it is not there either. What package has to be installed to get that working?

Thanx

Hi there! I'm waiting impatiently for the stable release and running the beta on daily now. I can say it is rather stable, but I have a few things to add to the list ;-) After updating MintUpdate yesterday the settings (pretty much all of them) were reset to the default. Now it's a bit tricky having...

I'm afraid I've found another thing. It's most probably Gnome thing or HP. Anyway, I was trying to print a 10 page document with 2 pages per sheet in Document Viewer (Evince). First I marked to print all pages in reversed order, which resulted in just 2 last pages printed on one sheet, and indeed th...

I have also noticed some instability when using wine apps (itunes for example). But I am quite sure that comes from the fact compiz is running at the same time. Anyway, I've never seen my mint freezing like that. There's of course the option of switching off the effects and that helps. There are als...

I don't have the problem anymore either :-D I can log out or shut down whenever I want to, without having to wait for a minute or 2. It must be the updates. Nice :-D

When is the final release ready? :) Really can't wait :)

Thanks for opening my eyes :) Helmut I have noticed something similar in Cassandra, Celena, and Daryna. I have an ...

I can also say that tracker does find things but it's really tough for the cpu (ok, i have only amd64 3200+). I'm very thankful for the script. I haven't tried it yet, but it looks that it should work. Anyway, my concern was (new) users who are not accustomed to scripts and prefer doing things visua...

Another thing I thought of is that it's not as easy to switch window's manager with compiz as with beryl manager. In fact I don't know how to do it since beryl manager is not available for Daryna. Maybe it would be possible to make or find a little app that sits in the tray and does the switching? I...

Me again :-) I noticed that nautilus was on the process list 3 times. I killed the process and then I could open folders without any problems. Even if i close all open folders nautilus remains on the process list as running and I cannot open folders any more. I need to kill the process to be able to...

I forgot to add that Daryna is the first linux for which I didn't need to play around with network settings (particularly with mtu - I always had to change the default 1500 to 1492) to gain access to the internet. It works out of the box. That's great. So many have been complaining about gutsy but f...

Now, I don't know if it's me or Daryna but something is definitely wrong. But i'll start from the beginning. I installed the beta as soon as it came. I used for it an old hd. Old and noisy. So I got quite tired of the noise and, since Daryna was performing really well on my machine, I decided to rep...

mikeon11 wrote: after enabling ntfs read-write all drives and partitions came to life
But for that one needs to install ntfs-config. I couldn't find any other way to get partitions mounted automaticly. Why isn't it installed by default??? Or maybe there IS another way? :S

I've noticed that closing down the computer doesn't work using the link/button in the mint menu. I click on Quit and nothing happens. It works with the main menu though.

...I installed emerald and it somehow works too. Both load every time i boot, without adding anything to sessions. How did you install Emerald? It depends on a file that is not available in the Daryna/Gutsy repos. I just went to synaptic, searched on compiz to see what there was connected with that...

My problems with compiz not remembering settings are solved .I'm not sure how. I rebooted, then made some changes in xorg.conf and booted again and there it is. Compiz works just as it should. I installed emerald and it somehow works too. Both load every time i boot, without adding anything to sessi...

Hi.

Almost everything runs as it should. As mentioned above compiz is not specially responsive to changes in the settings. What I noticed is that Daryna doesn't install printers automatically (as gutsy). I don't know, maybe it was removed, but that's a pity though.

I hope I won't find any bugs ;-)

Man, it's working!!! Thanks a lot. Now i can easily enable and disable surround sound. I still need to turn off/restart amarok but it's sooo much easier now. It's possible now, 'cos it wasn't earlier. It's great! Thanks again!
