Re: Increased text-shadows on Desktop

Took a couple more screenshots comparing my Cinnamon-desktop with a KDE-desktop. The difference is quite big and KDE does come out on top here, the shadows making the text easily readable. Wish i could upload a fullscreen image and not edited ones, but those are too big to upload here :( Note!* I'm ...

Increased text-shadows on Desktop

I've just recently migrated to Linux from windows and so far i love it, I'm using Linux Mint (Cinnamon) and it's working great, but as time has past and I've started to change wallpapers a few times over the weeks I've realized that Linux Mint lacks apparent text-shadows (under the desktop-icons) I ...

Re: Font Shadows

That's as far as I can take you. Some googling may be in your immediate future. Sadly most likely, i made some alteration to the code; .nemo-desktop.nemo-canvas-item { color: #FFFFFF; text-shadow: 10px 10px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.26)@desktop_item_text_shadow; } I increased the shadow to 10px but it still ...

Re: Font Shadows

We're getting closer! :) The code make me able to change the font color, but that's sadly all :( I made the font color white again and then increased the text-shadow up to 5px, but it made no difference in the desktop.

Re: Font Shadows

From what I remember, cinnamon.css isn't the one you want for changing the desktop icons and fonts. Try the gtk-3.0 folder or if there is one, the gtk-3.22 folder and look for the file gtk.css I found a GTK-3.22 folder and a .css file in it, and it this one seemes a bit easier, only seven entries w...

Re: Font Shadows

I think if found the file you'll need to edit. It all depends on your theme that you're using. For example if you're using Mint X Grey theme, you'd go to /usr/share/themes/Mint-X-Grey/gtk-3.0 Try editing the file named gtk-main-common.css The first section at the top says "Desktop Items". If memory...

Re: Font Shadows

Definitely looks like there's some shadowing on both the Windows and LM screen captures that you've posted, with the Windows one having much more shadowing so it's more noticeable. Personally I don't like the heavy Windows shadows, but I'd be surprised if there isn't a way to increase the shadowing...

...is there a safed place, a shelter, a what ever for male and (maybe - but I hope...) female depressive graphic artists, typographers and illustrators? Consolation and affection needed. Urgently! Forgot to mention that it only affected the desktop fonts, not ones in file manager, etc.
That's no problem for me personally, i only want it on the desktop fonts!

Re: Font Shadows

I see, where are the .css files usually located. I did a quick look and i can only find the .conf-files, but i may not be looking in the right place (I am a newbie after all). .css files are located in different places and I don't remember where and which file was the one that needs to be edited. :...

Re: Font Shadows

Actually, yes you can have font shadows. It's hard to tell but this is from my desktop: Shutter_044.png . Not sure if you can see the darker shadow for the font. I run 19 Xfce on my desktop and laptop. I adjusted the the desktop's fonts and shadows for my partner. Unfortunately, it's not an option ...

Font shadows? I have never noticed any shadows in Mint 18.3 Cinnamon. What font are you using?
Usually "Noto Sans Regular", but for the comparison above i used "Noto Sans Cypriot Regular". Though i've been trying out "SAAB Regular as well... cuz i drive a SAAB, thought that was hilarious xD

Re: Font Shadows

I took the time to install the "Noto Sans Cypriot Regular" fonts (which MS10 uses under the desktop-icons) on my Linux Mint Cinnamon PC so we can compare, this was the result, you can clearly see that MS10 has more apearent shadows behind the fonts when compared to Cinnamon. Secondly, this is not ab...

[Solved] Font Shadows

I never seem to get used to the fonts on my desktop, and while i was using a windows desktop recently i realised it might be because the shadows begind the fonts on windows are mich more apearent then they are on my Linux Mint: Cinnamon desktop! I've been going over the pre-installed font manager an...
