Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

Sorry if i've not been posting for a while. I just happen to like my current desktop and have settled on most of it, apart from the GTK theme. By the way, it's nicwe to see a few more AWN users, as people keep usaing Docky. I used to use it, but awn sort of called back to me after i last used it a f...

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

No the entire background/wallpaper was set as photographed. In order to get the background through conky I had to add these 2 lines to my .conkyrc file own_window_argb_visual yes own_window_argb_value 95 You play with the number value to get the look you want.. Thanks, Colyn. It would look much bet...

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

In order to reduce ram usage, i got rid of docky and just used awn, but all the launchers for some reason eat more memory than on docky, although docky does leak. Also changed window title bars to another custom theme, and replaced ubuntu icon in menu for awoken mint icon. once got ram down to 38%, ...

1440x900 screen resolution not staying

I had an update, and it messed up my xorg, so i was stuck in 640x480. I managed to get up to 800x640 and then used the limited graphical display/plain text mode to get up to 1024x768. From then on i tried to get my native 1440x900, but my monitor seemed to throw a wobbler every time, saying not supp...

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

mmesantos1, in gconf, it says that at least one instance of docky has to have the manage window without launcher checked. i tried to change it in gconf, but when i launched docky it still managed other windows. in the end i just made docky as small as i could

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

thanks mmesantos1. my idea was to have running progs on awn in the middle (i used lucido with some colour tweaks) and to have the launchers on docky, mainly for saving ram. the problem is docky has to show running programs, ive even tried in gconf-editor, but when I start docky it goes back to showi...

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

Finally, I managed to get the docks the way i wanted. awn does running applications and system monjitor launcher. it also has the yet another menu applet, show desktop, places and system notification, email and shut down. docky has all my launchers but doesn't do all running applications - i had to ...

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

Found a screenshot of one of my old desktops on Google's Picasa service. In the days of this desktop, Gnome-do used to work. Now it doesn't so I don't use it anymore. Such a loss for me.

Thanks, exploder and oscar799. I was just experimenting and have now realized that I only use compiz because it's the de facto standard, nothing else, apart from the cube.
