As long as you never connect to the 'net from Win7 you are safe. Smart move to disconnect ethernet cable when in Win7 but you also have to disable wireless.

The 4.15 series kernels will continue to receive security updates until End of Life for LM19. Newer kernels are basically to handle new hardware. You have older hardware so there's no need for you to use a newer kernel. Go back to what was working for you.
