Re: Apple Trailers - a solution

With Linuxmint8 i386 or x64, almost all apple trailers from the apple website work from the livecd out of the box! Only one is 'half' working for me: http://www.apple.com/trailers/independent/antichrist/ The following link you have two categories, the 'clip' and the 'trailer'. All clips "standard/HD...

Re: linuxmint8 livecd uses harddisk swap partition "disable?"

At some point this 'feature' has been put in Ubuntu, because people with 'not enough ram' would still be able to use the 'livecd', but now I just want to get rid off it. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCDCustomization #iceman also asked the same question... no answer Can someone point me where...

linuxmint8 livecd uses harddisk swap partition "disable?"

Hi the subject says it all. The livecd is using the swap partition on the local harddisk if it finds any and uses it. Is there a way to customize the livecd without using the harddisk swap but only the local squashfs swap? I know that going into the terminal and type 'sudo swapoff -a' will end all s...

Re: linuxmint 8, virtualbox-3.0.10 update not working

Helena has its own puel version yes, but I don't think it will override your added repository. What I meant was that if you waited a bit for Mint to catch up then you don't need the added repository. Your way will work as well, I hope you get the features you are seeking. Mint overrides with a olde...

Re: linuxmint 8, virtualbox-3.0.10 update not working

So it means, mint has its own virtualbox PUEL version which has an override on my own added repository? There are some fixes for windows guests os which may solve bad performance if I'm not mistaken. Indeed mint has its own PUEL version in 'software sources' "import packages(import)". Doesn't the la...

Re: How-to: Mint 7 Gloria from Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty

Nautilus context menu: this is one of the things added manually to the live CD, you can add it by using "Nautilus Actions Configuration", add a new one that uses the command "gksu nautilus" with the argument "%M", then set the various properties to show on all folders by using the * wildcard. No id...

Re: How-to: Mint 7 Gloria from Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty

More quirks! Grub: Well doing an "grub update", after some program requested it, I ended with a non working mintified encrypted ubuntu, but by changing /boot/grub/menu.lst and replace UUID with (hdx,x) all was running again. Update manager: Some how ubuntu's update manager came back alive... keyring...

Re: [fixed] MintMenu hangs + Ati closed"hardware drivers"

I can tell that the mint menu hang is fixed by indeed clicking the graybox in the upperleftcorner of the menu! :D

But I don't have any updates yet of the bug not showing the mint update screen, or mintinstall...

Re: How-to: Mint 7 Gloria from Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty

Yes, it'll be almost the same, that's why I did it in the first place, that "almost" was better than being stuck with plain ubuntu. Nautilus context menu: this is one of the things added manually to the live CD, you can add it by using "Nautilus Actions Configuration", add a new one that uses the c...

Re: How-to: Mint 7 Gloria from Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty

Almost Perfect! I did the ubuntu 9.04 alternate installation with the following help on a 8gb usb stick. I did it manually instead of guided so I can chose ext4 fs instead of ext3 fs. http://rlugubuntuhelp.blogspot.com/2008/01/how-to-install-ubuntu-into-encrypted.html Than I rebooted and updated eve...

Re: Software Manager / Mintinstall : less steps or bug?

For simplicity I would go for 1 selection step 1 confirmation step, and a progress bar that disappears when finished. Than showing a status thing behind the programs, showing it is installed. But besides its of the interaction of the different apt layers, am I the only one that thinks that 4 steps i...

Software Manager / Mintinstall : less steps or bug?

The subject/title says it all, When I'm installing a application via "Software Manager/MintInstall", like opera or picassa from the textbox "typing the name", I have to confirm "4 times" before it is installed! 1 The first time is when you press the install button in the current MintInstall Window "...

compiz enhanced desktop zoom, combine mouse buttons

Hi, Is it possible to use ¨desktop zoom¨ from ¨compiz¨ with mouse <button9>button4 for in and <button9>button5 out? Right now you have to use <super>+button4 or 5, but I don´t want to use the keyboard! My mouse has a extra red button I would like to use... so pressing a mouse button and scrolling at...
