Re: Proper router set up question

As a quick rundown here's how IP works: Each computer gets an IP. So let's say my router is 1.0.0.1 and my other computers are 1.0.0.2 and 1.0.0.3. If I set my 1.0.0.3 computer to host a website on TCP port 80, all the others can access it (provided I allow access in my firewall.) I could in theory ...

Re: Proper router set up question

The port is set by the application running on the computer. So you set your HTTP server to be TCP ports 80 and 443, then another machine connects to it using its IP and those ports.

If you updated kernels you may need to re-install the driver or use an older kernel.

Setting GRUB to install to an ext4 partition should work fine (I did this for VeraCrypt)

Re: No Password Needed Nor Wanted (Solved)

Well, yes, but this leaves me wonder why you considered it worth noting that passwordless UAC is not considered a security boundary on Windows. However, if that's a fully Windows-specific answer/issue, never mind... We're talking about security, right? UAC is not intended to be a barrier to stop ma...

Re: No Password Needed Nor Wanted (Solved)

Honest question, what does that in fact mean in practice? It certainly seems to be the case that I can definitively destroy a Windows 7 system through passwordless UAC. Correct. Having a separate admin user on Windows and using UAC to temporarily elevate privileges using a password avoids this, muc...

Re: Bash script dosen't continue when run

No, it will remember it for a number of minutes. But it will run your script with root privileges and not need multiple sudos.

Re: Bash script dosen't continue when run

Could it be that sudo is waiting for your password and times out? Try removing all the 'sudo's then running your script using sudo.

Re: My hands have started to shake.

With using the keyboard more I would suggest using something like a tiling window manager where you use the keyboard to select, focus and resize Windows. You could also try and set your mouse sensitivity to be useful for large movements that you can make then use keyboard bindings to move the mouse ...

It's worth noting that passwordless UAC is not considered a security boundary in Windows.
Neither would passwordless sudo in Linux.

Your issue seems similar to these threads:

viewtopic.php?f=47&t=291280
viewtopic.php?t=272079

You likely need to run:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install libnvidia-gl-418:i386

Steam is trying to use software rendering, your nvidia driver doesn't seem to be set up properly.
