[SOLVED] How to set colored icon size between 32px and 48px?
My panel is set vertically (auto hide) and I find that a "colored icon size" of 32px is too small and 48px too large. "Scale to panel size optimally" also makes icons too large. Panel width is 50. How do I set an icon size between 32px and 48px? 16px is too big for a gap in the s...

Re: Timeshift Noob Questions
Many thanks for the replies. I just created another snapshot, deleted all but the last two, and set weekly snapshots keeping just 2.
It baffles me that they're so huge. It's not like I installed any huge apps whatsoever. I'm just a regular user pretty much.

[SOLVED] Timeshift Noob Questions
I've been using Linux Mint (now on 19.3) for 8 months. I didn't know Timeshift snapshots are that big, even if my disk has relatively huge available space (630 GB). The last snapshot I created today is 19.8 GB. I currently have 12 snapshots--keeping 5 daily, 5 on boot, and 3 on demand (manual). I've...

Re: Download current ISO/boot drive before each OS update?
Thanks. My internet speeds aren't that great downloading a 2-GB ISO could be a pain. It would be my first time updating without a live USB for my current OS. I agree, updating from 19.1 to 19.2 was a breeze!

[SOLVED] Download current ISO/boot drive before each OS update?
I have a USB boot stick for 19.1 only. Do I need to have one for 19.2 before updating to 19.3, in case something goes wrong?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

[SOLVED] Installed updates. Now won't connect to accounts.firefox.com and pCloud unless via VPN
EDIT: Solved: It was IPv4 Settings. -- I temporarily stopped using my desktop PC last November 25 because the battery of its UPS died. Since then I used my laptop straight until today after I got the replacement battery. Right after booting it up I installed all updates that totalled to 75 MB. I th...

KeePass2 crashes whenever I type long entries on the "Notes" field
Hi, I don't do it often (as stated in the Subject), but it crashes and loses everything that's not saved. Before, the Notes field would freeze as I typed (wasn't a biggie). I would just need to click OK and then re-open the database entry in question, and then it would display everything I typed, in...

Re: [GUIDE] How to hibernate to a swap file in Linux Mint 19.x
Thanks for the guide...but I'll be following this when I'm brave enough to break my PC :D Removing the useful hibernation feature out of the box in LM 19/Ubuntu 18.04 is not a good idea at all What's the philosophy behind this? I didn't always use Hibernate (when I was still on Windows until two wee...

Re: Noob Questions about Lightweight Virtual Machine Setup for Microsoft Word
If you go with a still supported OS like Win 10 then you don't need to keep it offline, of course. Haha I'm so sorry about that, thanks. Not critical in any way though, you're extremely unlikely to "catch" something in an offline environment, I'm not worried about my Linux systems getting...

Re: Noob Questions about Lightweight Virtual Machine Setup for Microsoft Word
Thanks, everyone. but don't use the version in the repos, instead goto Oracle and install the latest version: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads You can either download the debs or follow the instructions in the link to install (which is preferable as it will give you updates as they ap...

[SOLVED] Noob Questions about Lightweight Virtual Machine Setup for Microsoft Word
Hi, I may be using a VM for that inevitable, hopefully rare, and serious need to use MS Word for client work (the only one important purpose I see, so far). Seems it’s the second best option, after MS Online. (Side note: I found a software that “brings” MS Online to the Linux desktop. Anyone else us...

Is iPhone connectivity--via USB cable--gonna be a forever problem with Linux? (Any cabled solutions?)
I'm on Mint Cinnamon 19.1 and I have an iPhone SE. I also have another PC that runs Windows, which I really want to get rid of soon. Wireless solutions are impossible for me: I don't have the best internet and I transfer audio files in the gigabytes (although not very frequently). I tested it last n...

@Pjotr:
Hey, thanks for your site! I think I followed that after my fresh Mint install!
@Petermint:
That's really interesting.

Made me curious: Could you talk a bit more how/why that happened?the required formatting was highly complex.

[SOLVED] Wiping Windows 8.1 in 3 months tops. Freelancers, especially writers, I hope you’ll chime in as well :)
Hi, (TL;DR) My questions: 1. Is Mint the most “out of the box” and GUI distro? What are other distros that meet these criteria? 2. What Desktop Environment is best for my PC’s specs? (For freelance writers/copywriters, or maybe even freelancers in general): 3. How has your experience with Linux been...

Re: How to stop LibreOffice Writer from putting “bloated” html code on Wordpress?
@administrollaattori: Yes, I've disabled Guternberg on the day it was released :) @murray: I got (un)lucky that my MS Word 2010 hasn't been messing up my html. I'm starting to like Wordpress' Text editor (combined with the Visual editor). WP's Text editor feels clean and something I have more contro...

Re: How to stop LibreOffice Writer from putting “bloated” html code on Wordpress?
Thanks. Second, learn the tags you do want, perform your typing in the text editor then add the tags manually. For now I'll be pasting on the Text editor first, then I'll shift to the Visual editor when it's time for formatting. (I would rather do the "from scratch" approach rather than th...

[SOLVED] How to stop LibreOffice Writer from putting “bloated” html code on Wordpress?
(Text is copied from Writer, then pasted on Wordpress’ Visual editor.) Hi, First, some preliminary details: OS: Linux Mint 19.1 Cinnamon (1 month old. I’m a noob.) LibreOffice version: 6.0.7.3 File format being used: ODT, DOCX I always write on a word processor first (offline) before copy-pasting it...
