Re: Amazon MP3 downloader software

I had a similar problem with my 64-bit machine. I discovered there's a plugin for Banshee and it took care of it all. Banshee is available thru Synaptic, of course.

Re: Printer sharing with Windows

Here's the method to print from Windows to Linux that i used -- in case anyone following this thread has no luck with the other methods on this post: With Samba installed on the Linux Mint computer and having both the Mint computer and the Windows computer both part of the same workgroup, share the ...

Re: Lightweight distro

I've always been a Puppy enthusiast and they are rock-solid; there are many custom versions (with or without big apps like OpenOffice; an XFCE version, etc). The official version is always under 100MB and FLIES. Funny he has so little RAM, i would increase that and then he could use Mint easily. The...

Re: read-write privileges in Windoze partition

Voilà! To all - thank you. To Fred - hmm, it's a nice feeling to be struggling in the shallow water and see the Coast Guard throwing out a lifeline! A noble gesture for Sir Fred to be patrolling the noob section. I copied your lines for mounting the Fat32 partition into my home folder and read-write...

Re: read-write privileges in Windoze partition

GRRRRRRR -- !!!!! http://www.elmirachristianacademy.com/images/very_angry_emoticon2.gif i really whacked this thing out. Originally, my "pristine" install allowed the user to click on "33.1MB volume" (the fat32 partition) and mount it. I wanted it to auto-mount, so i searched and found i should add ...

Re: read-write privileges in Windoze partition

I think we're getting closer - but since it's WinME, it's a fat 32 partition, i guess that's vfat in unix/linux. Soo - i don't think ntfs-3g is gonna work...? :?

Re: read-write privileges in Windoze partition

Thanks, pompom, but i have done that already. There is no lock on the folder (until i link it to my desktop); nevertheless the files are read-only when opened - at least the docs i tried. These are all on a separate partition, so unless someone can tell me where to find partition sda1, i'm at a loss...

[Solved] read-write privileges in Windoze partition

Hi! My daughter's computer has long been set up as a dual-boot system, but she ALWAYS stayed on the MS side. However, the ME side no longer recognizes the network card -- so FINALLY she is using Mint 7 -- out of sheer desperation. :D I'm trying to keep this VERY FRIENDLY for her, so she'll have a go...

Re: problem with yoville on facebook [Solved]

IDK if you are still having problems -- but i installed Firefox FOR WINDOWS under WINE and it seemed to work fine.

Yeah, i know -- that's REALLY a hatchet job. :?

Re: MintNanny

DansGuardian is the answer for Linux users, but it's tricky. It's over my head. Ubuntu CE (Christian Edition) has a great set of controls based on DansGuardian.. UCE is no longer maintained, if i recall, but you should be able to find the iso still. If not, i can upload it for you, then give you th...
