Don't have any backups unfortunately.
I think it happens ONCE in everyone's lifetime.
Consider it a learning cliff.

You could try the 'Software Manager'.
Go to the top right hand corner 3 horizontal bars and choose 'Show installed applications'.

Re: Cinnamon menu has disappeared after locale-gen

Hi,
Welcome to the forums.

First thing - have you got Timeshift enabled?
If so, do a system restore back to before the problem happened.
Then, only add ones that you need, one or a few at a time and reboot and see which ones cause a problem.

Re: Start Button off of screen

Hi, Welcome to the forums. Was it a gradual shift? Or did it happen in one jump? Has anyone been playing with the settings? Have you got Timeshift snapshots enabled? Are all the other icons ok? Is there a hard menu on your monitor (look around the sides/back for some buttons) as you might be able to...

Re: Calibre abruptly closes when importing books

Hi, Welcome to the forum. Probably best to copy/paste the following command into terminal, then copy/paste the full output as a reply. If you can, enclose the output within the </> (5th icon from left above your reply box). What version of Calibre are you using? Does it happen everytime, or sometime...

Re: Install Mint Dual Boot on SSD

Hi,
You don't specify what yo'll be doing, so it is a bit hard for anyone to comment.
For instance, if you are using Windows 3.1 and Mint and are just playing around with Space Invaders it will need a lot less space than Windows 10 and Mint while downloading/creating Hidef movies.

Re: Multiple SSD not visible after update to Tricia

At a guess - the Thermaltake is USB3, so it might have had the same effect as just unplugging the drives without removing them first (for whatever reason, and remember, this is just a guess) Basing it on this, could you do a live boot with no external drives attached. Then attach one of the drives a...

Re: Veracrypt folder open -after power outage folder is read only

You're lucky to get anything with VC after a problem like that. If I were you I'd back up anything you can in the VC container that was open, verify the files (check they open), delete the container and start another container. You might try a file system check in the container but tbh, I wouldn't t...

OK,

Don't suppose you have a Timeshift snapshot from a few days ago that you could revert back to, do you?

Re: Setting Permissions after copy on dual boot

In each user account that you are having problems with, run the following command from terminal: sudo chown -Rc $USER:$USER $HOME Post back with the result. If you have a Timeshift snapshot, you could also go back to before the problem. The data should still be safe unless you have changed the TS se...

Hi,
Welcome to the forum.

First thing to do is to read the 'how to get help' link which is in a tiny little font above the reply box.

Anyway,
Can you post the output to the following command so we can at least see what some of your system is:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz
Also, have you got Timeshift enabled?
