Re: So, "Microsoft" called me ...

I'm still waiting for them to "fix" my internet, given that they were going to cut me off yesterday, I'm still "not" here. :D  I haven't received those calls a few days now after I told them I use Linux and MacOs. Next time I'll use the one mentioned earlier "I don't o...

So, "Microsoft" called me ...

It was the usual scammers from India calling me and they have for a couple of days now. My Windows computer apparently messaged them that something was wrong with my computer. You probably now all this. This time I decided to waste some of their time and played along and played a bit confused. They ...

So I messed things up

I had Lm19,2 going fast and strong on my Lenovo dualbooting with Elementary OS. Last night I decided to get rid of Elementary because LM is better for me, so I deleted the partition and messed around with grub, not knowing exactly what I was doing. :P So I couldn’t boot into LM anymore, luckily I ha...

Re: Any musicians out there using Mint/Linux?

I play music as well.
We play a few concerts a year.
Currently we use Garageband and Logic Pro X to record stuff.
I'm looking into Linux for other options, I started using Ubuntu Studio, but I'd rather use Mint and maybe use it to record the songs.

Re: How many are 100% Linux here?

My Lenovo laptop runs purely on Linux Mint (for a month now) and I'm planning on keeping it that way. The more I fiddle around in Linux, the more I realize it has all I need. But I also have an iMac with a Windows partition, Windows never get used by me. One of the kids use the Windows partition occ...

Coffee for me, all day every day. I've been in the coffee business for 11 years, servicing and repairing vending machines. Now I'm looking for a new job, the company i was in were bought by a large competitor and they have their own technicians, so they fired a couple of dozens of us ... :? So black...

First month living with LM!

I just realised 2 minutes ago, that its been exactly a month since I introduced myself in this great forum! So its been a month without Windows and I actually don't miss it at all. Yes, there's still a lot to learn and I will study and master this OS. Funny thing is, I still feel I'm suddenly standi...

[SOLVED] Is it possible to clone Mint to a mSata drive?

My Mint machine is a Lenovo L520 with a 500GB Harddrive and I'm considering buying a 240 GB mSata drive and boot from that, so Mint can boot faster and maybe speed this machine up a bit. So my question is: 1) Is cloning possible? or 2) should I do a clean install on the mSata and then wipe the hardd...

[SOLVED]Driver Manager failed to download repository information

Every time i run the driver manager, this pops up: E:The repository 'http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian tessa Release' does not have a Release file. I downloaded virtualbox version 6.0.8(I think) plus the extension pack, used it for a while and then this message started to show up ... ...

Re: WiFi is not working in Linux Mint 19.1

I had the exact same problem a few weeks ago, when I started out with Linux Mint. I solved it by using a cabled connection and downloaded the driver. On the other laptop I'm using, I just reinstalled Linux Mint. I think I checked the box for installing 3rd party drivers during installing Mint. Hope ...

Re: Why do newcomers stay with Mint?

The trick is simple! Use Mint as you used Windows. 1) Browse the internet, as usual. 2) Send and receive emails, as usual. 3) Listen to music, as usual. 4) Watch youtube, as usual. 5) Watch Netflix, HBO etc, as usual. Force yourself to do the everyday stuff you used to do in Windows. And be happy ab...

I havent read all the comments. I made it to page 6. Been a n00b myself and I can only speak for myself. There are much to learn: 1) The filesystem, its a whole different beast to me and others too probably. 2) Terminal. Well, I started with DOS 6.0(or 6.22, not really sure), so I understand the con...

Just out of curiosity which desktop version did you decide on :?:
Cinnamon for this laptop.
Because its newer and faster than the test laptop, which have the Xfce version. :D
