Re: Application tabbing

Hi. Today I read that KDE is going to be introducing the next big thing: application tabbing. As richyrich noted in his facetious post above the fluxbox window manager has had application tabbing for years. And before that the idea actually came from the PWM window manager which has been around sin...

ddalley: please be more specific, i.e. when do the freezes occur, how frequently, does the whole machine freeze or just that application, have you noticed this on the same machine with a different OS, or when using the Live MintCD??????

Can you remove the webcam?, or if it is inbuilt then disable it in the BIOS and try reboot and check dmesg again.

Re: Trouble Installing Linux Mint 8 Helena

Are you absolutely positive you burned the ISO as an IMAGE, not as a DATA disk? It seems to me, if you have the boot order set to boot from CD first, and it doesn't boot it that you do not have a valid boot CD. That would be the case if you burned it incorrectly.

A google search shows me that appears to be a bug. I suggest you join the Pan users mailing list, there is probably more help there: http://lists.nongnu.org/mailman/listinfo/pan-users

I think you've said it all right there, so to me it hardly matters what is included as the default, as long as it does its job and as long as other players are easily installable (which they are) for those who do not like Rhythmbox.

Re: 701 XFCE Lexmark X4650 et LinuxMint on EEEPC 701

I am sorry to tell you this but I do not think you will ever get that printer working with Linux. Lexmark provide the worst support for Linux of all the printer manufacturers. My suggestion would be to sell that printer and purchase an HP or Brother printer, who provide very good Linux support. Have...

Re: enlarge menu-bar

Instead of doing things the Windows way why not try the Linux way and instead of having a large double panel taking up screen real estate start using the extra workspaces, for example one workspace for Internet apps and one workspace for other apps. Then you won't have so much clutter all over your ...

According to this: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.p ... ingId=4818 you need a "no CD Crack". Beyond that I can't help Suggest you Google no CD Crack, game name and Ubuntu for more hints.

AFAIK to do that would mean you need to change the theme, or edit the theme. The former is easily done, the latter not.

There was an option in the installer to use the Mint 7 partition and essentially overwrite it. You missed it.

Re: Installing in IDE mode instead of SCSI

As I said DMA should be enabled, I do not think that is your problem. When you have Firefox open, open up a terminal and type the following commands and show us their output:

free
df -h
ps aux

I suspect you have other problems, not DMA....

Re: Burning Music to CD's

A music CD is not a data CD - I suspect DVD creator burned those wma files as a data CD. You will have to use Brasero, and click "Audio Project". What exactly is your problem using brasero? If it does not work for you type "brasero" is a terminal and show us the error messages you get.
