Re: PC does not fully shutdown from Linux

We're fine. Although I do hope that next time you pick an instant to have your computer hardware break it doesn't coincide with some of us experiencing the exact same symptoms from a kernel update at that exact same time... At long last I have found the culprit. I have been waiting for a USB 3.0 fr...

Re: FileZilla problem

Thank you mint; will look at that later on as got some work to do on my old media PC fitting a front USB 3.0 port, plus find out what is causing that PC not to shutdown properly. I am beginning to think that might be a dodgy memory stick. Hope you are not near those terrible bush fire areas in South...

Re: Desktop Clock?

That is, xclock -bg red or xclock -bg rgb:ff/00/00. See /usr/share/X11/rgb.txt for a list of predefined named colour values.
Where do you get all this stuff from? Is it some site that this is on?

Are you asking here about settings for Windows10 firewall?

The UFW/GUFW should be fine with Allow Outgoing.
No I am referring to Linux Firewall.

Re: FileZilla problem

Well I checked this all over again, plus I installed FileZilla in Win10 VM. I set everything up as I had done on my main Windows 10 machine but got the same Directory error as I got in Linux. Both these distros are installed on my backup machine. The fact even WS_FTP inside Win10 VM produces the sam...

FTP: Passive, Allow fallback Active Mode: Active Mode IP, Ask your operating system for external IP address Passive Mode: Use the server's external IP address instead Once again I was anticipating you a bit and in Linux and Windows set both the same in the settings. Also, in the Sentinal one under ...

Re: FileZilla problem

Try again. Open the Site Manager on Filezilla, and create a new entry (new server). Enter the details as given above, and don't touch any other settings - try that... I was already there with that one. I deleted the previous connection and started a new entry to get the result I showed you with tha...

Re: FileZilla problem

Right I have now tried this in Linux and still issues. First of all when running FZ in Windows under Encryption I used "Use explicit FTP over TLS if available" and this worked fine and banged into the server in under 5 secs. I opened up FZ in Linux and cross checked the settings I had in my Windows ...

Re: FileZilla problem

Connected. Been playing around with the settings and my friend did say try active mode, so in the settings I checked these settings in Connections/FTP. Active-transfer-mode.png This enabled me to access my friends server immediately and quicker than WS_FTP. I did this in Windows and will try it in L...

Re: FileZilla problem

Your friend's server is not configured for FTPS, so you won't be able to connect using SSL/TLS. You are only able to connect to FTP unsecured. If you want to connect securely, your friend will need configure his server for FTPS, AND set appropriate firewall rules. So how would I configure FZ to con...

Re: FileZilla problem

At this stage I suspect your friend's server is misconfigured for FTPS, and you have been connecting on standard unencrypted FTP. Don't think he uses FTPS, just FTP. Right I have checked GUFW and that is set to default, all outgoing open and had a go at setting up the connection to his server witho...

Re: FileZilla problem

If you don't solve it, drop a line here with your findings - good luck! I have tried different settings as follows. First I set up port forwarding on my router to 30000-35000, I also did this in the Firewall and Router Configuration Wizard. These are what I set. default-transfer-mode..png passive m...
