Re: Some talk 19.3 ISO was hacked. Just trolls?
Maybe you're thinking of this (mint 17.3 Cin only): https://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=2994 "Beware of hacked ISOs if you downloaded Linux Mint on February 20th! February 21, 2016 by Clem·787 Comments" I was thinking the same thing. They confused it with 2016 and the others derped. TY all for ...

Re: Some talk 19.3 ISO was hacked. Just trolls?
I now have 19.3 on two laptops, and have gotten past the need to "Mess with it", and wow! would you believe neither laptop has ever had a crash since 19.3 Cinnamon was installed? I friggin' LOVE Mint 19.3. No issues here either. And I haven't noticed any strange networking activ...

Re: cinnamon-session update broke a start up app. err: Failed to change directory ""
Well I solved it by updating the path var in the *.desktop file. vi /home/me/.config/autostart/lmc.desktop I noticed that Path= had no argument I tried tilde ~ but it didn't like that either. or anything with double or single qoutes So I put the literal path of my user home directory. No idea if it ...

Thank you!JeremyB wrote: ↑Thu Sep 06, 2018 1:07 pmIn terminalCode: Select all

I'm not sure why this option isn't in the Cinnamon GUI. I don't want my PC discoverable except when pairing is required.

Thank you *AGAIN*!
That's good enough for me. I rarely use the webcam. I can just turn the profile back on when I use it.

Set default input[recording] device persistant
Hello all.
Mint 19.3.
I have headphones and a webcam I rarely use.
I'd like to set the default input device to the headphones instead the OS defaults to the webcam which I have to always change back.
How can I make the headphones the persistent default input device?
Thanks for any help

Re: Lost Hardware Acceleration After Updates
This happens to me EVERYTIME I update MESA, Kernel, or anything display related. My graphics driver crashes when returning from a reboot. The only way I fix it is first, cross my fingers , then use the GUI graphics driver updater to swap between graphics drivers randomly until one finally "take...

Re: Mint 19 Upgrade - Vino gone?
Oddly, it opposite is true for me! Every machine I've tried to set x11VNC up on and then remotely connect to, I've had nothing but issues (black screens, etc). Yet with Vino, everything works fine! So, in my case at least, for some reason, Vino is the one I prefer for that reason! Same here. I tool...

I've just wasted about 3 hours trying to figure out the same thing. The PIDs were showing as cinnamon --replace and nothing relative under ps aux --forest view It's really hard to track down TCP connections for cinnamon. lsof doesn't really show WHAT is creating the stream! Searching inside files in 19.2 Nemo
Hello all.
Is there an easy way to search inside files from the desktop manager instead of grepping from the command line?
Thank you.

Re: 19.2 Cinnamon independant headphones/speakers?
I know there's a better way to accomplish this, but it means editing a bunch of files in /usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths/ that could take forever to figure out the right combination of edits so I'd rather continue on the present path. Use alsamixer to set everything working again, then try t...

Re: 19.2 Cinnamon independant headphones/speakers?
Yeah, notice the Master in the last command. I'm trying to get the speakers to work while the headphones are muted in this case, and it takes some experimenting. By the way, the speakers are most likely the Line column in alsamixer. When we get there, the command will be amixer set Line toggle My t...

Re: 19.2 Cinnamon independant headphones/speakers?
Don't worry about the missing inxi bits. I was just trying to get an overall feel of what we were dealing with here. I've seen various posts about the -D pulse flag on the amixer command, and don't understand why yours claims no Headphone simple mixer control when it's clearly there in your amixer ...
