Well I solved it by updating the path var in the *.desktop file. vi /home/me/.config/autostart/lmc.desktop I noticed that Path= had no argument I tried tilde ~ but it didn't like that either. or anything with double or single qoutes So I put the literal path of my user home directory. That's good enough for me. I rarely use the webcam. I can just turn the profile back on when I use it.

Mint 19.3.
I have headphones and a webcam I rarely use.
I'd like to set the default input device to the headphones instead the OS defaults to the webcam which I have to always change back.

How can I make the headphones the persistent default input device?

I've used notify-send to set up basic reminders. But instead of using cron, I've used systemd timers...
