Re: Favorite rolling release distro?

Tried PCLinuxOS, and nahh, in IMHO its just a dumb down version of Mandriva.

Cooker is the most exciting rolling distro i tried and LMDE the most stable.

Haven't tried Arch (yet!)

Re: Linux Mint Debian (201012) released!

theres some kind of confusion here. if you installed LMDE 201009 and did regularly apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade you are now with the LMDE 201012 running in your machine. These new isos are only worthy for the ones waiting for a 64 bit version and for the new-comers. With rolling releases, ...

Re: Why "testing" to "squeeze" now

i switch to unstable 2 months ago and everything runs fine here, without breakages, and i do try to break it (pulling apps from experimental, from sidux repos and mepis repos). When i switched there was a big update (+400 packages) and now daily i see a dozen or more coming in. But as i said with no...

Re: Horizontal Conky messing up background

it rezises because you have there 3 values that change from 1 to 2 digits frequently: both cpu's and ram. the only way of avoid that is creating starting points for those values (goto) ${goto 10}${color2} Operating System:${color} Linux Mint 10 Julia | ${goto 228}${color2}System Updates:${color} ${e...

Re: Horizontal Conky messing up background

you can try play with "goto" so this way the conky stays fix and doesn't narrow or expand if the text width changes.

see this two how-to's. They may help

Re: LMDE : unity & gnome classic desktop !

I think we should get some things here clear: - most of the things we see in Ubuntu are not Debian-compatible, they weren't patched upstream; - if we want those goodies we should stick with LM-*buntu based versions (Isadora or Julia); - Try to mix wildly any Ubuntu repo or PPa in the LMDE is asking ...

Re: Does LMDE Support PPa from Launchpad?

My 2 cents: 1- Adding Launchpad PPA's is a bad idea, they are Ubuntu compatible and sooner or later they will break your Debian install. Always add debian-specific repositories. 2- LMDE is a rolling release, which means that you don't have to re-install unless you break it and the system will be rec...
