Re: Is LMDE going to make it?

According to the Mint Blog the next version of LMDE will be released in December ... http://blog.linuxmint.com/ I have to ask this, if LMDE is a rolling distro, doesn't it mean that we don't have to download the next version? So no need for install, just updates should be enough, right? AFAIK for c...

Going to build the first desktop - kinda lost

Re: Why use multiple workspaces?

The simplest answer is because you can!! Elaborating a bit more, all depends how you use your computer: if you just open a browser, a player and a IM client maybe you never feel the need of multiple workspaces. But you already have above examples of usages that are a lot more efficient in several wo...

Re: Maverick approaching final release.

And, exploder, you been following the Meerkat development closely (i just played with it in the first alpha for a couple weeks) is there any plans by Ubuntu devs to port all the improvements you can see to Lucid? Don't forget that 10.10 is a STS and 10.04 a LTS. Will that be done? Or will they "forc...

I had 5.1.1 working fine (including APT search), updated to 5.1.2 which broke the icons and with Clem's instructions got them back and tonight to 5.1.3 and APT-search it's working still fine

Re: What are you going to do - Testing/Stable LMDE/LM 10?

Security? Sid has no dedicated security team! Testing DOES have a Debian security team! There is a security repository for testing in you sources.list I assure you . Testings security team is not as big as their Stable security team but that goes without saying because that is their officially supp...

Re: Lost icons in mintMenu after update

Clem already posted a fix in yours bug report Clement Lefebvre wrote 2 hours ago: Hi, Yes, this is a known regression, but also an expected one. mintmenu used to use icon sizes such as 1, 2, 3 or 4. Since yesterday, mintmenu now uses pixels from 1, all the way to 128. The default values are fine, bu...

Re: What are you going to do - Testing/Stable LMDE/LM 10?

I upgraded my LMDE sources.list to point to Sid a couple weeks ago. No problems with Sid (unstable) whatsoever. I have found 'unstable' to be more 'stable' than any distro I've tried before. I use Debian Sid (unstable) with LMDE, Crunchbang Statler and Debian 5.0.6 Xfce . . . I have never had an 'u...

Just out of curiosity, tell us...

Not that that matters to much now, since the announcement of Mageia but it's always good to know the backgrounds of this business.

What possible commercial interest would this Russian firm have in acquiring Mandriva That's one of the questions nobody apparently knows how to answer, ever because no-one seems to know exactly who they are. ps: is it true that Mandriva RPM repository is second only to DEbian in no of packages. Re: Mandriva Sold To Russian Firm And Former Developers Fork

Yes, yes I know!! I been following these news very closely with a mix of concern about Mandriva's future and hope in Mageia, the new community fork. I just don't trust a unknown corporation that comes out of the blue and takes over another to use their resources and make a national Linux distro. Cal...
