Re: LMDE Bug Reports Thread

There's a "nasty cosmetic" ;) bug in the preferences in MintUpdate: instead of Debian we see Ubuntu's brand when choosing the levels of update

Re: Mint Debian

just finish the installation now from the faulty iso and everything went smooth. No errors during install, i could select sdc has the target for the grub (was a concern of mine after reading above that the installer didn't give us option to choose). APT cleared fine, rebooted and i'm writing this fr...

Ran the first live-cd session, very briefly and everything looks great, fast, light.

Tomorrow with more time, i will give it a go installing and if i can configure the wireless properly i will change my signature.

Re: Drawbacks of a Rolling Release?

i'm going to try to clarify my point: i run a rolling release, but by feature it's experimental, cutting edge, in the same way it's sid. But if you don't match this two features - rolling release and cutting edge- i can't see the drawbacks of it, the way squeeze goes. May not be rock solid, but i da...

Re: Drawbacks of a Rolling Release?

I've running Mandriva Cooker (the distro's development branch) for nearly one year now, and Cooker is at the same time rolling release and cutting edge, and that suits what i want. You may ask if Cooker is all that why am i here and bother to have Mint installed? Because Mint is the safe place, the ...

Re: Mint Debian

i been following this topic here and there, but now it's getting "hot" :) In the last 2 weeks i've tried to go closer to Debian as possible ( and my skills allow it): Lenny, Squeeze, Sidux, Mepis and there's always one or more big issues that stop me from switch totally. The one that comes closer in...

Re: The Mint Menu in Ubuntu?

In this PPA are only the dependences required to make MintMenu work (and all are from Mint)
It's just a question of making things easy and for the feedback it works very well in Ubuntu

Re: The Mint Menu in Ubuntu?

Or you can add this PPA to your sources.list that only have MintMenu and the required dependences needed to work in Ubuntu

https://launchpad.net/~webupd8team/+archive/mintmenu

After the PPA added and system updated, kill the gnome panel and "Add to panel"

Re: Poll@WebUpd8: The best Linux Main Menu

Shouldn't come as a surprise to us that the Mint tools are getting the recognition they deserve. And it's not only this pool showing that; This new Ubuntu-spin uses Mint's Software Center http://www.webupd8.org/2010/07/manhattan-os-based-on-ubuntu-makes-it.html And this one uses MintMenu http://ubun...

Re: The house of cards is starting to fall.

I started my unix adventure with Mint6, still have Mint7 installed and of course Mint9. All this time i tried Ubuntu, every new release, but never did install it, it was always so inferior to Mint. Two months ago i decided to try the new 10.10, and honestly i'm worried with the new Mint10. I only se...
