Re: I found a Displaylink USB Monitor that works well with 19.2

I don't have the device anymore, but I am nearly positive that I installed the drivers here: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/ubuntu

I've since abandoned their propietary dongle and switched to standard bluetooth. Works properly there in 19.3.

Re: Dual Monitor/Primary is Forgotten on Reboot

Thanks for that... I had forgotten about Autorandr, which is what I ultimately used to solve the problem, as shown here: viewtopic.php?f=208&t=305042

Re: How do I completely wipe/reinstall Chrome and/or Chromium? [Solved]

I kinda did the cardinal troubleshooting sin and did multiple remediations at the same time. I reset Chrome (couldn't hurt to clean it out). I also reset Pulse (also couldn't hurt). I also decided to update the Kernel to 5.3. So far it's working after multiple days. I'm also trying out the Vivaldi b...

Re: What's the expected dual-screen behaviour after coming out of the screensaver in Mint 19.2 Cinnamon?

@ianozsvald I came across a potentially useful fix. So far it seems to be working for me. It involves using Autorandr What is special about Autorandr is that it allows you to create profiles for different conditions that are responsive. I had used this previously to properly detect whether I was doc...

Have you Used libimobiledevice to Do a Complete iOS Backup?

I want to wipe my iPad Mini 4, but want to backup first. I don't want to pay for more iCloud storage, and don't want to pollute my PC with iTunes. I discovered that http://www.libimobiledevice.org was already installed on my Mint 19.3, and ran successfully idevicebackup2 backup ~/Documents/iPadBacku...

I also decided to update the Kernel to 5.3. So far it's working, but I need to stress test some more. I'm also...

Re: Microphone Issues Linux Mint Chrome & GoToMeeting. Input audio cuts out after a few minutes.

@MrEen I saw some other posts you've had about resetting Pulse, which I did. I also completely wiped Chrome and Chromium (and their remnants), and upgraded to a different kernel (5.3). Maybe I will get lucky and one of these things will have fixed it. If not, I'm going to try from a Live USB to see ...

Switched to 4.18 and two-way audio last for about 5m, and eventually the microphone went offline. This is consistent regardless of which audio source.

I am running 5.0.0-37-generic

I am a purger, so oldest I have installed is v4.18.20. I will try going back to that to see if this persists.

@gm10 What's your take on a newer kernel? or somehow resetting Pulse?

Re: Are You Using a Chromium-based Browser that You like? if so, what's your fave?

Without knowing your issues we can hardly comment. Personally I am using Chromium itself as my regular browser, also have Vivaldi and Opera installed. I was thinking that my issues with intermittent two-way audio were browser-specific, as I tried in Firefox and seemed OK (I used Google Hangouts suc...

Am having issues with Chrome or Chromium, but have business workflow that relies on various Chrome "extensions." Extensions may be my problem, but worth trying out something else. Are you using Slimjet? Vivaldi? others?

Curious.

How do I completely wipe/reinstall Chrome and/or Chromium?

I am not concerned about my data and extensions as I have both synced by Google,

I am having some wonky issues, and I think it will be best for me to start from scratch (issues are consistent in Chrome and Chromium).

I am running 19.3 Cinnamon.

Microphone Issues Linux Mint Chrome & GoToMeeting. Input audio cuts out after a few minutes.

For the last few weeks during sessions where I use the GoToMeeting web client from Linux Mint (Chrome Version 79.0.3945.88 (Official Build) (64-bit)) on 19.3 Cinnamon, the microphone cuts out after several minutes. I have used a wired and wireless headset with the same results. It doesn't appear tha...

Re: What's the expected dual-screen behaviour after coming out of the screensaver in Mint 19.2 Cinnamon?

@ianozsvald I have a very similar problem, as noted here: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=208&t=307040 Did you ever resolve? I just updated to 19.3 and hoped that it might remedy this, but to no avail. It seems that you too are also using USB-C (in my case Thunderbolt) to DP. I have not...

Got a version that will boot from usb in legacy mode only, yet to make it work under UEFI.
Andy, for my immediate needs I don't need UEFI. LMK if you'd like me to test.

Why I just Dumped Clonezilla and am using Macrium Reflect Rescue Instead

I have used Clonezilla for many years. Indeed it is ugly and can be confusing, but if one wants to clone disk to disk, the guided "beginner" process is super reliable. I've been having issues with my 19.2 Cinnamon setup, and before I upgrade to 19.3, I wanted a reliable way to back out to just where...

Dual Monitor Set up Flips Primary After Lock Screen (sometimes)

I am running 19.2 Cinnamon with a laptop display as secondary (eDP-1), and an external display for DP-1 connected as my primary. https://i.imgur.com/TcV3z9w.png I keep my computer on all the time, and if I come back after a few hours, the screen will be locked automatically. Recently, I will find wh...

Re: Laptop and external monitor

Because it says connected, doesn't mean it's active. If you've already done below, apologies. Can you verify via the display applet, whether your 23" is "green" per the attached. Select it so it's highlighted in the top portion of the dialog, and make sure it's "activated." https://i.imgur.com/5mkeY...
