Re: Have you found an effective alternative to Remmina?

@Minty, it randomly closes on me in Mint Qiana Cinnamon. Also, it doesn't resize to fit window properly on startup. The resize issue has been around for a while, but the random close is new. KRDC works much better for me right now...

Re: Have you found an effective alternative to Remmina?

For anyone else dealing with this, KRDC appears to be a good alternative and stable. I was concerned that KDE might take over my system (I'm running Cinnamon), but it has not been an issue.

ksystraycmd? Is this doable in Qiana Cinnamon

I want to run the KDE-based KRDC at startup and have it minimize to the tray... I also have a couple of other pesky apps that won't start minimized (Toggl and Skype)... Someone on the KDE forums recommended ksystraycmd, but since I don't have KDE installed (nor do I want to install KDE), I can't see...

Re: Have you found an effective alternative to Remmina?

I have a Windows box that's nearby, but that's inconvenient. I also have several VMs that I can use that are at least accessible on my desktop. Those are reasonable options, but I'm amazed that no one has taken the ball and fixed Remmina.

Re: Have you found an effective alternative to Remmina?

This is for client work all done remotely tunneled through IPSEC or SSL VPNs. I don't see security being an issue here.

TeamViewer is a nice product, but I need a reliable RDP client application that allows me to keep track of multiple server connections easily.

Have you found an effective alternative to Remmina?

Am running Qiana and have used Remmina for RDP access to Windows server for many years. It's been very buggy always, but especially since the version that changed to FreeRDP. Functionally it's what I need. I recently bumped myself back to an older version, but I'm finding that it too crashes. I just...

Re: Installing VueScan

I downloaded the trial and unzipped it to a folder in Home. I was able to double click on the file vuescan and it loaded the program without any installation. It was amazingly easy. You would just need to create a launcher for it.

I'm running Mint 17, so perhaps this is the issue.

Re: No translation file found for domain: 'Nemo-image-tools'

First question: Why running Nemo from the command line??
For troubleshooting only
Second question: Were did you found that nemo-image-tool application?
http://www.webupd8.org/2013/12/manipula ... -nemo.html
Third question: How did you installed it?
Via the PPA above

No translation file found for domain: 'Nemo-image-tools'

I've installed Nemo Image tools and while they appear in the context menu, selecting them as an option hangs nemo. If I run nemo from the CLI, at startup I see:

"No translation file found for domain: 'Nemo-image-tools'"

[Solved] Re: Qiana 64 and Skype 4.3 External USB Video

This seems to be isolated to using a USB hub... I moved the device to a direct port and rebooted and it worked.

Qiana 64 and Skype 4.3 External USB Video Doesn't Display

I'm using an external Logitech HD Video camera (/dev/video1) on my Thinkpad X230 laptop which has it's own internal camera (/dev/video0). Skype 4.3 works properly, but doesn't display the Logitech camera contents in the preview, or when on a call). If I run Cheese or Google Hangouts, the video1 show...

Re: Chrome Notifications

There appears to be no way of changing the notification location. I run the panel at the bottom, so I'm just going to have to get used to looking for the notifications there.

Chrome Notifications

Am using latest Chrome which includes "Chrome Notifications." By default the notifications appear in lower right (I have panel at bottom of my screen). I would prefer to change the location of these popups. Is there a way to do it?

[Solved] Cinnamon Bottom Panel starting in wrong position

Inexplicably, the bottom panel of Cinnamon 2 under Ubuntu 13.10 has migrated about 1/3 way up from the bottom at login. If I restart Cinnamon, it moves back to the bottom. I tried resetting to the default theme to no avail. I'm using an external monitor connected to my laptop, but with only one scre...
