Re: Is there a way to name workspaces?

Thanks, this is definitely a theme thing. I changed back to default and was able to name the workspace. When I went back to Minty Transparent, the names disappeared. No biggie.

Is there a way to name workspaces?

Am using Mint 2 with Ubuntu 13.10. In Workspace settings I have OSD on. I read elsewhere that one can name them in explo mode, but as soon as I click on one of the preview windows it just goes to that workspace.

[Solved] Mint Display Manager (MDM) & External Monitor issue

I'm using MDM on a Thinkpad X230 that is often docked with an external 30" monitor. When booting, MDM presents on only a fraction the screen, not the whole 2560x1600 available. xrandr reports as follows: DP2 connected primary 2560x1600+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 641mm x 401mm Bec...

Advice on Upgrading from Ubuntu 13.10 to Mint

I am running Ubuntu with Cinnamon but have some wonky issues and am strategizing about somehow cleaning this up and shifting over to Mint. On Ubuntu I have a separate encrypted /home partition and it's rather large (300GB used). I've read the recommended Mint upgrade instructions with the Mint Backu...

Re: Note syncing between Linux and Android, anybody ???

IMHO Evernote is the key here. It is widely supported and works very well across platform. It has lots of features, but you can use it a very limited level if you like. I use the Android client, the desktop client on Windows, but also use NeverNote on Linux. The Android client is great and very reli...

Ubuntu 13.10 + Cinnamon or Mint Petra

Am curious as the prevailing thoughts on this... I have been running Ubuntu Gnome 13.10 but was running into all kinds of quirky Gnome Shell issues. I liked Gnome Shell, but one has to use extensions to make it usable, but there's often issues. I tried Cinnamon early on, but there performance issues...

Re: [Solved]Mint-X Controls and Cinnamon Theme

It seems that install Mint-X from the repos didn't completely install the whole them. Once I moved over all of the files/folders from my working Petra install to my Ubuntu install and logged out, it all worked properly. Thanks for the help.

Re: Mint-X Controls and Cinnamon Theme

Thanks Austin! I compared the contents of my /usr/share/themes/Mint-X folder on my Ubuntu + Cinnamon install with my Mint Petra install. The Ubuntu version (which is the one that's been having problems) is missing a bunch of elements. See the screenshot with the two side by side. Any danger copying ...

[Solved]Mint-X Controls and Cinnamon Theme

I'm trying to convert over my former Ubuntu Gnome desktop to something that more closely resembles Mint Petra without having to install Mint. I've been mostly successful; however, the "controls" especially in certain dialog boxes seem off to me. I had installed Mint Petra in a virtual machine and on...

Re: Is there a way to change out a Panel icon?

Right clicing apears to have no effect on changing the icons that run in tray/notificiaton area in terms of what icons they present. Am running 1.6.7

Re: What controls the menu botton color and the middle panel

Thank you. Panel edit mode was definitely the issue.

What controls the menu botton color and the middle panel?

I've been playing around with themes, but the menu button and middle part of the bottom panel do odd things and don't appear consistent with what the theme looks lik in the previews. What am I doing wrong?

Is there a way to change out a Panel icon?

I have a couple of apps that run in the tray (Yammer and Jungledisk) and they look really terrible (transparency issues). I had intermittent issues like this in Unity, but Gnome Shell worked OK. I'm running 1.6.7 on Ubuntu 12.04. See 2nd from left and 9th from left. http://t2technicalservices.com/tr...

Re: Kernel vulnerabilities

I also updated with no issues. I was motivated to do this because of issues with my MSI U100 and the Bison webcam. Updating the kernel per level 5 releases fixed this for me.

Suspend Restores Wrong Screen Size etc...

I'm running Gloria on a EEE Box B202, attached to a Vizio 20" monitor that is set to 16 x 9 (1280 x 720). When I suspend the machine and bring it back up, the display doesn't come back in the right aspect (e.g. the panel is nearly hidden at the bottom) and the color depth appears wrong (e.g. 256 col...
