Re: Simple Share not sharing all subfolders and files

I chose option A and and it worked wonderfully. Many thanks for that. Now if I could just get the network printing ironed out I would be set. Turns out the problem may have been a faulty driver on the xp side of things. I need to do a few more tests. I'll let you know if I can get it working. As it ...

[SOLVED]Simple Share not sharing all subfolders and files

I have two problems i'm trying to tackle, and it's possible they are related. 1. I've been trying to setup simple network shares between a LM 11 box and a winxp box. I have finally managed to get LM 11 to see the winxp box and be able to browse the shared files and pull them up at will. I also have ...

Re: Software has a dependency error

I've done a bit of digging since my last post and I found the package it's calling out for in the debian squeeze repository. However when I tried to install it I saw it would uninstall a whole slew of applications. Apparently Mint 11 (and probably Ubuntu 11.04) use the package "libwebkitgtk-1.0.-0" ...

Re: Software has a dependency error

The program is a GUI for the Hide My Ass Open Vpn. I tried looking in Synaptic and I found similar packages, but none that matched the name of the package the program is calling out for.

hma vpn not working, LM 10 and LM 11[SOLVED]

I've been trying to get a command line openvpn client made by hidemyass(hma) vpn service to work, and I can't. I've contacted there help support and they are stumped as well. Whenever I try to run the execute command for the client they provide, I always get the message jarrod@jarrod-ELA01 ~/Desktop...

Re: PPA's not updating in package manager

Not sure. It didn't even occur to me to check that. However, I was able to use aptitude to install pylotro. For wine, I was able to get 1.3 directly from the wine website. I'm not sure what to do if this occurs again in the future though.

PPA's not updating in package manager[SOLVED]

Hello everyone, I just upgraded from LM 9 32 bit to LM 10 64 bit. Smooth upgrade process, a hiccup or two but nothing I couldn't fix. However, I noticed when I added the PPA's for the dev version of WINE and for Pylotro, I can't find the packages that correspond to those PPA's. I entered the PPA's u...

Re: [Solved]LM 9 No video after boot options on live DVD

To get the live CD to boot into Mint, adding nomodeset in compatibilty mode works. However, I had to apply the EUREKA solution that I found browsing the Ubuntu forums, where I replaced "quiet splash" in the boot line with "nomodeset" (without quotes). Once I got in the first time, I downloaded my dr...

[Solved]LM 9 No video after boot options on live DVD

Hello, I wanted to do a "fresh" upgrade to LM 9 from LM 8. So I burned a copy of the LM 9 Main 32 bit DVD ISO at 4x. Process went smoothly and I proceeded to try and boot the live DVD. I can get to the boot screen and choose what option I want, but after the boot screen my monitor stops receiving vi...

Thanks! Moving the sample rate way down seems to have fixed the problem. I was referring to ZSNES. Need to spell check my stuff before I post.

Sound crackles heavily when using ZNES[SOLVED]

I recently dl'ed ZNES so I could have some old school gaming fun. But... when I load any ROM that I download the sound crackles like crazy making the game not worth playing. My sound for movie playback in GNOME player and VLC works fine, as does DDO and LoTRO via Wine. (Though I had to switch audio ...

Re: Black Screen of Doom on boot

My main issue Dr. Hu is that I can't reach my GUI of Mint. If I try to do a regular boot, I see the LM logo... then nothing. A nice big black screen from which I can't do anything. When I try to repair packages from the recovery menu, it tries to but can't connect to the repositories. When I try to ...

Re: Black Screen of Doom on boot

Alrighty, I tried to reinstall the nvidia settings package but my computer could not connect to the repository from CLI in recovery mode. Is there a way to copy the files onto a disk or thumb drive so that I can load them that way? I have a feeling that it would be much easier to do that than try to...

Re: Black Screen of Doom on boot

I'm still very noobish about linux, so how would I:
1. Confirm that I have removed the 195 linux driver
2. Install the 185 driver?

I know how to use recovery mode to get to a command interface and enter commands from there, just not sure which commands to use and in what sequence.

Re: Wireless PPPoe connection issues with Mint v.7

Ok, I already have the DSL tab fully configured in the network manager, so no issue there. However, when I tried to use ndiswrapper as per the wifi wiki, it didn't like the vista 32 bit or vista 64 bit drivers that are provided on the driver cd. I finally got it to recognize what I think is an xp dr...
