Re: Super annoying high pitch noise in new computer

That means nothing can be done on the os side and it's a hardware problem. I hope it will be solved after changing the power supply. I'm getting worried as people are saying it's common for "high specs" computers to have noises like this. (Someone from the shop I bought it said that, and ...

Re: Super annoying high pitch noise in new computer

If it's irrespective of the os, then without booting in the os also the noise should be there. Just idly powering on without booting the os, does it cause the noise? Yesterday the repair guy did something, the computer booted on the BIOS instead of the OS (I think he unplugged something, I really d...

Re: Super annoying high pitch noise in new computer

Just adding that the OS on the computer is LM 19.3, not sure if it's an important detail here. I've searched on the internet, and I'm super confused now, while some are saying that a high pitched noise is sign of defective hardware, others are talking about "coil whine", as if it was norma...

Super annoying high pitch noise in new computer

I got a new computer, everything seems fine, works fine. Except for the fact the computer makes an unbearable high pitch noise. It's a continue high pitch noise that starts barely 1 minute after the computer is turned on. The noise comes from the computer, not from the speakers. After a few tests do...

Re: Dual boot w10 mint 17.3 and bad updates

you should also Replace that LinuxMint 17.3 with an later version of the LinuxMint System, - - as that version, has Expired - - just like the win-7 system has also expired. Oh wow, I've just realised what it means as I was reading another topic about it. (I naively thought it just meant it's too ou...

As for the OP, you are lucky with your Win10 having so few problems.

Re: Dual boot w10 mint 17.3 and bad updates

Follow up : took a while, W10 updates went through this time, Mint partition is intact. Still not amused by those forced surprise updates.

Re: Dual boot w10 mint 17.3 and bad updates

the very latest win-10 updates, are freezing some PCs, but have no Issues on other PCs which is very :? indeed. you typically can't Block those win-10 updates, unless you are running win-10 Pro at least. - - attempting to Block updates on win-10 Home is problematic, at best. Nope, that update can't...

Dual boot w10 mint 17.3 and bad updates

So, I've got a laptop which has a dual boot W10 and Mint 17.3, stuff were smooth at first, but went downhill 1+ year ago after some W10 updates. Long story short, since then, the updates are forced, they pop up all the time but also FAIL all the time, and it causes problems on Mint too sometimes. I'...
