Re: Linux Mint 9 released!

First impressions: Seems the oddest things will make my machine restart (e.g., opening a game in WINE, changing the screen resolution). And it doesn't seem I can change the Nvidia settings like I used to, through the menu - I'll click on the menu item, the window will open, but when I, for example, ...

Thanks, Oscar.

Also, I love how some of you screenshot your 3D desktop cubes. I've never tried it myself, but it sure looks pretty!

File System folder disappeared [SOLVED]

I've gone into a Desktop Settings, and the box to allow the File System folder to appear on the desktop is checked, as always. The Hom...

Played around with the settings a bit, but probably the only noticeable change from last week's desktop is the icon set. Click for full size:

Re: Skype Problem

I downloaded and installed Skype 2.1 for Ubuntu directly from their site, and have had no problems, if that helps at all.

OK, I just tried this in VIrtualBox, and things seemed to be running alright, except these was no sound. Are there sound drivers that need installing for this release?

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

DetectiveRootz: Thanks. Mint 7 Xfce is its own distro, with an .iso that you can download from the main site. There is a way to switch DEs without a fresh install, but I've no idea how to do it.

Running Mint 7 XFCE here, and just installed all Level 4 and 5 updates. Rebooted. No problems whatsoever. Thanks for the heads up, Husse.

Re: Home folder opens on start-up

I went Control Center>Administration>Session and Start Up, saved the current session, checked both "Automatically Save Sessions on Logout" and "Prompt on Logout". This did the trick for me.

Home folder opens on start-up - RESOLVED

Lately, whenever I boot up, the Home folder is already open on my desktop. It doesn't matter if I never even opened it during my last session.

How do I resolve this?
