Re: Kernel boot options removed by fault, no boot options

Are you using the same architecture CD as you installed to the hard drive?

i.e. are you trying to use a 32 bit live CD on a 64 bit install?

The 333 is MT/s, not MHz. PC2700 has a data rate of 333MT/s and a peak transfer rate of 2666⅔MB/s.

Re: Are there DDR2 and DDR3 SODIMMs?

PC2700 is always DDR. The 2700 refers to the speed of the memory.

DDR2 speeds are listed as PC2-xxxx, i.e. PC2-5300, and DDR3 is listed as PC3-xxxx, i.e. PC3-8500

Re: Kernel boot options removed by fault, no boot options

You can try the following. No guarantees that it'll work, but you won't break things any more than they already are. Boot into the live CD and open a terminal. Enter the following commands: sudo fdisk -l Make a not of which partition is listed as 'Linux' sudo mount /dev/[Linux partition] /mnt Exampl...

Re: How to install Linux Mint 11 DVD Version using Mint4Win?

install using the CD version, then when booted into the newly installed system either click on 'upgrade to DVD version' on the Mint welcome screen, or enter this into a terminal window:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install mint-meta-gnome-dvd

Re: Installing .run file?

I get this error when I try to run stuff on the wrong architecture - some x86 stuff does this on my AMD64 rig. I'm assuming that you're using a 64 bit version of Mint, so try the following in terminal: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install ia32-libs Let us know if it works :) PS: If yo...

The installation is pretty straightforward - just choose the 'install alongside...' option, it'll set everything else up automatically.

You're right.

Interestingly, a few pages I've looked at have said that kubuntu-ppa/beta has 2.4.1 for Maverick, but that repo appears to be completely empty :?

Firefox is a Mint package, not Debian. Debian uses Iceweasel, a debranded version of Firefox.

Edit: Just checked, Iceweasel is still at 3.5.19-2
