Remove pulseaudio and reboot. You should then be good to go :)

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get remove pulseaudio
sudo shutdown -r now
Yeah, that worked fine, thanks!!

Skype works now, and so does Totem.

Re: Wifi? Im lost [SOLVED|

Thank you, Im sure that will help the other Ubuntu refugees (like me) get the wifi going. The Debian install is allot harder than Ubuntu or Mint 9. But thank goodness for these forums, you got it going for me. And now I can do it myself. I also had allot of trouble setting up my hard drive partition...

Setup my drive wrong

Somehow during the install I missed where you decide how much space for your disk partitions. My computer is a Dell Mini 9 with 16gb SSD. I intended to setup as /dev/sda1 / ext4 10gb /dev/sda5 /home ext3 6gb But I somehow ended up with 13.5gb on / and only 652MB on /home .... too small. I must have ...

Re: Wifi? Im lost

I see you are new to using the terminal. When you see in the terminal "yourname@yourcomputer~$" that means that all commands you type in will be done under the user yourname. When you type sudo -i you will change to the user root(the Administrator if you want to see it like that). When yo...

Re: Cant save pdf form

I searched for Adobereader with and without the -en and nothing found except Adobereader-deu for some reason. I searched in Software Manager, and nothing found. What I was able to do is open my form .pdf with Adobereader-deu and enter my text, and hit the x out button (upper right) and it asks me if...

Re: Cant save pdf form

Thanks, I searched for Adobereader-en in synaptic, its not there. Only the -deu

After I installed Adobereader-deu and opened a pdf file it offered english, I selected english, but it opened in German.

I'll look and try Options, maybe I can find english.

Thanks again

Re: Cant save pdf form

I completely uninstalled/reinstalled, but it didnt offer a choice of Eng/German this time, so Im stuck in German.

I was able to figure out Ja is yes, and I was able to enter the info, and save it.

I can make this work, but it really needs to be in English.

Thanks

I love Mint 9 except [SOLVED]

Mint 7 was so stable, and did what I want, but I wanted to upgrade to 9, naturally. I never got along with Mint 8, but I tried. Love the fast bootup, and the latest updated software, Thunderbird, Audacious and so forth. What I dont like with Mint 9 is constantly having to re enter my password if I l...

Re: OK feeling stupid, youtube wont play

So does wired connection work when wireless is disabled? Is it just the icon that is incorrect or can you not use your wired connection? When I installed I had the modem plugged directly into the Dell Vostro, for a wired connection. As soon as I had 9 installed, and updated, I installed the Broadco...
