Re: al ejecutar rkhunter me genera 3 wornings

Rkhunter (rootkit hunter) está conocido por sus avisos falsos. Para probar, yo instalé lo mismo en mi sistema y recibí un aviso similar: [11:29:44] /usr/bin/lwp-request [ Warning ] [11:29:44] Warning: The command '/usr/bin/lwp-request' has been replaced by a script: /usr/bin/lwp-request: Perl script...

Re: Linux kernel?

For general tidbits on the subject, please take a look at https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=322791 Shift key allows you to see the Grub menu, which is hidden by default if you only have Linux Mint on your system. From the Grub boot menu, under "Advanced Options" you may select a lowe...

Re: Install newer kernels manually?

Hi, I did the same, no issues so far. You can go ahead with 5.4. However, you should leave at least one older kernel in the system as a fallback. Just curious as to why update mgr wouldn't move to the newest kernel always. I guess this is because kernel updates are a sensible issue; that might poten...

Re: Keep Spotify in cairo-dock

To try myself, I have installed both cairo-dock and spotify-client from the terminal with apt install cairo-dock spotify-client . It showed up with its icon on the cairo-dock applications menu. I dragged its icon onto the cairo-dock and voilà: Pano01.jpg Could you please check your steps in the ligh...

Re: sudo: apt-get: command not found

Based also on the feedback of other users, I strongly suggest you to reinstall the system. This might even be related to hard disk problems. However, if you insist; based on the following information: Host: noah Kernel: 5.3.0-59-generic i686 bits: 32 compiler: gcc v: 7.5.0 Desktop: Cinnamon 4.4.8 Di...

Re: Need a browser recommendation

I suggest you to look at epiphany-browser (aka gnome web). It is the default browser of the Gnome environment, looks good with a minimalistic approach, has built-in ad blocker and support for pwa's (web apps) .

Re: sudo: apt-get: command not found

Your system is corrupted, and with corruption there's no telling what else may be damaged. You ought to consider backing up your important files before deciding to restore your system from a backup or deciding if a clean install is warranted. eliasmansilla, I thought the problem to be related to yo...

Re: Webcam DELL-6420

Your webcam is clearly not recognized by the system. I will ask for the ouput of one more command: lsmod | grep "vl4\|uvc" That's incorrect. It's the Ricoh listed in the output. See here: https://linux-hardware.org/index.php?id=usb:05ca-181c You are right. I had assumed Ricoh for an sd-card reader...

That is the correct command to install cheese.

Did you refresh the repos first:

Code: Select all

sudo apt update
You can also install it via the graphical software manager from the menu.

Cheese and Guvcview are the ones that I have used. You can use both for a quick fix.

They are not installed by default but are small in size. You can easily install them in the Live environment.

Re: sudo: apt-get: command not found

It seems as if your locale settings (keyboard encoding) interferes with the command and sends strange characters to the apt-get command. To begin with, to make sure apt-get has not been deleted unintentionally, can you post the outcome of these: which apt-get which apt And what is your keyboard layo...

Re: Why flatpack apps are so huge in size

This is because Flatpak apps rely on large-sized base packages (for gnome, kde, etc.) to run. Once you install those base packages alongside, the second Flatpak app you install will occupy much less space.
