Re: rsync --exclude switch problems [SOLVED]

rsync also allows for an external text file in which you write the include and exclude folders.
There is however no need to write /dev/*
/dev is enough, the while directory is excluded this way

Re: Change Default Printer Setting

My wife's computer has mint Cinnamon 18 on it. She keeps up on updates with it. She has tried to change the default setting on her printer (Canon Pixma ip7220) from letter size paper to legal. She can change it just before she prints but she always needs legal and it would be nice to have that as t...

Re: Why would I pick MINT?

No idea what kind of databases you build, but if they are more than a bunch of tables linked together with a few forms on top then you will have to make sure you can use Microsoft Office. The Libreoffice database program Base is not capable of making complicated databases with macro's and visual bas...

[quote="MintyO"] Just thought I'd mention that if I read your post carefully enough, you forgot to mention Gmail. Hands down the best "free" email in my opinion.
It's part of the etc, etc etc.

Re: Chromium should be the default browser

Choice in Linux is important. Choose whatever you feel is best for you. When it comes down to browsers, no one is safe. As is said already, with almost every website you visit, there are a lot of other sites contacted who need to know what you are doing, who you are, where you live, etc. This is not...

Re: how to clear KDE History

I don't use the KDE Application Launcher but instead use the Application menu, this does not show History, just recent Applications and Documents. It has furthermore the benefit of automatically open the sub-menus, where in the Launcher you need to click first. To change, unlock your widgets, right-...

Re: Window's Get me out of here.

Hi, your story is a bit complicated to understand, at least for me. I don't quite get what it is you try to do. Do you want a dual boot, one for Windows and one for Linux, or do you plan to setup Linux, install Virtualbox and inside Virtualbox you make a virtual machine which houses Windows? If I we...

Re: Ubuntu drops Unity and moves back to GNOME

Having spent some time on the Ubuntu forum, and as a huge advocate of free speech, I thoroughly welcome this. It seems that on the former, nearly any criticism of Canonical or Mark S is unwelcome Well, here it is not much different. Clem, the main developer, is considered to be God and whatever he ...

Re: Stop Clementines internet behaviour

Hi "1.618", I just read your post and the good replies to it. Here are my thoughts on this as well. Perhaps it is just trying to phone home ;) . Just kidding sort of, perhaps it is looking for updates, or for Cover Art, or metadata, or lyrics, etc...? Perhaps there is a plug-in to one of the variou...

Re: Ubuntu drops Unity and moves back to GNOME

We have LMDE because some Linux Mint users prefer the Debian package base for its stability and security. Xenopeek, did you really say: with the main LinuxMint we don't have the stability and security of the Debian packages? It only exist in LMDE. Now that would be a reason to skip main Mint right ...
