Re: Stop Clementines internet behaviour

Strange. When I use Clementine I see no internet traffic what so ever: https://s26.postimg.org/kwj93r16t/Screenshot_20170410_134438.png Are you sure it is Clementine doing this? How can you tell? Isn't it normal traffic with your router, isn't there another program active? How much date is sent and ...

Re: Ubuntu drops Unity and moves back to GNOME

My opinion, which is always different than all other opinions here on the forum, is that Mint should really make haste building LMDE to the next level. Based on the rock solid Debian, with the Mint extras which make Mint Mint, it will be a guaranteed success. Drop the main version and only concentra...

Re: VERY SLOW Mint 18.1 KDE

When you want speed and KDE you need to install Manjaro KDE. It is absolutely fantastic, has the latest KDE Plasma 5 version (5.9.4) which is truly amazing. Manjaro is based on Arch Linux which is known for its speed. Manjaro just makes Arch available for the non geeks by adding all sorts of extra p...

Re: Ubuntu drops Unity and moves back to GNOME

While Canonical will no longer pay anybody to work on Unity future that doesn't mean others can't work on Unity future — either continuing the project as-is or forking it if that is needed for governance. One Unity developer has already commented they will continue their work on Unity future. In fa...

I did this for my printer and got the very basic driver with a maximum dpi of 300x300. So I searched and found the Gutenprint driver which gives me the full potential of my printer.

Re: Epson 430 printer ?

I'm sorry but I can't tell you if the Gutenprint package is in the Mint software repo's since I don't use it at the moment.
I did notice when I installed a Canon printer on SolydXK it was recognized instantly, without having to install a driver at all.
So, yes there are differences between printers.

The are converters for USB to DVI which you could try. Used them on Windows at work, never on Linux though.

Re: Epson 430 printer ?

Is that the complete type number for the printer: Epson 430? Isn't it something like XP-430, or any other letter combination? When I installed drivers for my XP-530 all in one printer I installed the Gutenprint package. Because the 530 is not mentioned in their list of printers I chose for the XP-82...

Here in Holland the tax-office uses a secure (?) website where you can log-in and do your taxes, Nowadays most of the items are filled out already by them since they know it all already. No need for a program. Would be impossible since the rules here chance every year, you would need a new program e...

Re: So pretty much all changed over to Linux Mint, but, needs...

So I've moved all three computers to Linux Mint KDE 18.1 now, two dual boot but I may change that to remove Windows in the future. Pretty much all I want and need to do can be done without Windows, but, one thing comes to mind and it worries me: I use Turbo Tax. What do I do to do taxes easily like...

Try Hug-in. Use it every day lately cause i'm busy with the holiday pictures of last year. Great program.

Oops, didn't read your entire post. As I wrote I do use Hug-in and it works fantastic, I never have problems with it unless the pictures are not suitable to be joined.

Re: Is it just me or is kdenlive GUI super flaky in Mint 18?

The program is practically unusable. Lot of controls don't show up properly/are overlapped by other controls. Tool tips are white text on top of yellow, overall, it's a mess. Is there a way to permanently fix this? I played with settings within kdenlive and got it going but it does not work long te...

ReDo Backup and Recover. Install it to a CD and boot from it. Can make backups of partitions but also complete drives in matter of minutes. I use for making backups of my OS on a NAS over the network. Works great.

Re: What other distros have you played with recently?

To be honest I find XFCE something from the past. Plasma 5 is sparkling, it is shining, the programs delivered with it work great. Take for example Dolphin the file-manager. Superior to all others. You can configure it just the way you want it, it has double panels which make it very easy to move or...
