Re: Mint 9 -> Boot up time

It will be faster because it uses plymouth during booting rather than of lots of different things like usplash and xsplash at boot like linux mint 8.

I am running it and it seems to boot up faster.

I use arch linux too, doesn't mean I'm any smarter for it, but google is your friend for most problems. Some people just need to RTFM or google.

Re: Upgrading without re-install

It is still recommended to do a clean install, it just makes the whole process a lot quicker and easier. If you really want to attempt it (I don't, I use clean installs), you can read clem's tutorial on upgrading via both methods. As well as reasoning behind the choice and other things at http://com...

I use Gimp for everything picture related. Cropping is three clicks in GIMP. Rectangle tool -> Drag Rectangle around -> Crop to Selection Adding colours is even less, two clicks. Brush -> Click on drawing. or four if you want to not use black :p Basically, GIMP being removed for mint would be a disa...

Re: What's in store for the Mint 9 DVD?

I'm not sure officially, but I was in the irc when clem first suggested it. The CD will not contain java and OoO-base. Dvd should contain VLC and other things that would be on the CD if there was more room.

Re: Adobe Software

If WINE dosen't work you could maybe try crossover but I don't think you will get any better results.

For graphics though I would point you towards the GIMP if you want a native solution.
Not sure about a replacement for dreamweaver though, it is excellent software.
