Re: Daryna KDE CE BETA 044 is out!

When you use Daryna and you have an activated internet connection during install, all required language packs for the language you have chosen ( german in this case) will automatically be installed - but not in this KDE CE Beta version ! "language-pack-kde-de" + "language-pack-kde-de-...

I think it generally doesn´ t give a good impression of a new version I you have to write "Attention we have a major problem with the installer". The BETA was the version to test everything and this is the final version and everything during install should work perfectly! I would strongly...

workaround for the bug in the installer

Hy Clem, I gave Mint KDE to a friend in order to install it. He needs the option "partition manually" due to an existing home directory. But he can´t get his wlan working "to solve the problem" (install ubiquity-frontend-gtk). So it would be good to have a Mint KDE DVD with corr...

From the Mint Webside Installation Notes: - the more people download the ISO file the slower the download speeds are. The more people download the torrent, the faster their download speeds become. - always check the MD5 before burning the ISO. If you keep getting the wrong MD5 from one of our mirror...

Is this okay, I mean this site doesn´t provide any further information about the packager or the people behind it. I always feel better if I´d more information

Hy mikpap , well, this is a hard way..KDE 3.5.7 is based on Feisty, Bianca on Edgy. I tried that (modify the sources.list), but I had to download hundreds of MB´s and the upgrade took one hour on my system. During the upgrade the system asked several times, well I don´t remember exactly the text, ...

I tried sudo kcontrol and changed language and keyboard settings - but in vain . Well, its KDE and it has been always more buggy than in Ubuntu/Bianca. Maybe the next KDE Version w...

Hy I tried to install Feisty KDE but it doesnst´t work. You see the screen and the progress bar stops at the beginning. Without that screen you see why. After a few seconds you see an error like "/bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off (initramfs)" . I did a fresh install no upg...

KDE does not shut down or reboot properly

Hello everybody,

A very strange problem is bothering me. - My Desktop PC didn’t shutdown as it should be. So the following behavior occurred. Note that this only effects KDE (Kubuntu). No problems with Bianca (Ubuntu) and no problems with other KDE Distributions like Sidux Linux ex Kanotix).

- The PC tries to shutdown but suddenly before a complete shutdown it turns off. During the next booting process a “recovering journalâ€￾ will be started.
- It shuts down but doesnt´t shut off ( System like IDE, fan still in action)
- Reboot doesn´t work.
- a “sudo shutdown –hâ€￾ oder “ –râ€￾ worked !

It seems that some people have the same problem and I have learned that it could be a problem with my graphic card. Its an ATI Radeon RV280 (Radeon 9200 PRO) So I found the following solution which helped:

I solved the problem by editing.
ect/kde3/kdm/krmrc

I added at the end of the [x...core] the following
TerminateServer=true

And that helped ! I read a lot of threads regarding this problem and I seems that for other people a different solution was more likely to be successful.
Can anyone explain this phenomeno or is it possible to solve this problem for Bianca KDE ? It seems to be a problem with ACPI
