Re: KDE icons in the sys tray

I believe the Plasma Devs made a conscientious decision to make system icons standardized and un-changeable. There are no plans to change them back. Individual app icons, however, can be whatever you want them to be. This was to gain a level of consistency similar to other OS's.

Re: Wastebasket

Mint 10 KDE. I decided to add the waste-basket widget to the panel. When I click on it to open it I get an error message 'Malformed URL trash:/. The header of the error message window is Error KIOExec. Strangely it allowed me to remove all the items in the waste-basket. Using a file manager I can a...

You might also try Kontact - KDE's integrated Mail, Calendar, etc. app. I use it daily - it's really good.

GStreamer will be standard for Kubuntu 11.04, so I am assuming that LM KDE 11 will be the same :)

Re-installing the KDE Desktop should fix this, if all else fails.

Re: KDE should be the default Mint desktop

also from the blog 8% of the user base sampled used some form of KDE while 81% used Gnome so I am willing to bet that the "traditional" DE for 11 will be Gnome. However things can change and you never know what is waiting down the road. Enjoy Unfortunately, this becomes somewhat of a self...

Re: Amarok 2.3.2 Released...Impressions are very good so far

I guess, at the end of the day, Amarok is "a music manager" ( http://userbase.kde.org/Amarok ) and, as such, should be viewed that way. If looked at in this light it may be not the best choice for simple CD playing. I'll look into what I can find out for you. In the meantime, check out thi...

Re: how to use mouse and windows to find process name and ID

So far searching online linux and other mint and KDE specific resources have yet to yield any help, so maybe y'all can tell me how do you find out what a process name/PID is, using only the mouse and clicking on a window or dialog (like when using xkill)? Xkill allows you to run the command and the...

Re: Amarok 2.3.2 Released...Impressions are very good so far

I don't know. HD space is so insanely cheap, I figure if I'm going to listen to a CD, I might as well rip it. You might try asking over at the Amarok forums though, and keep us in the loop as to if you get it solved. Scratch that - I see that you already have. Any luck over on the Kubuntu Forums? Wo...

Re: Plasma crashes when changing Desktop Activity Settings

Welcome to Mint KDE! Well, I'm not sure what could be causing your problem, but I would think that an easy solution would be to create a new user account and ignore / delete your current one that's giving you problems. You could also ask over on the Official KDE Forums as well. Lots of resources aro...

Re: system freezes

I noticed partition manager is installed (by default), the size of my swap file is .83 GB, I do run 1 GB RAM on this machine. The partition manager buttons e.i. resize/move are grayed out. Hmmm? The partitions need to be unmounted prior to allowing you to resize them. If it's a PITA to make it work...
