Re: Why are my applications not the latest possible version?

I assume on the "other" methods is using a distro-based package website like removed/. This website has proven to be useful as it gains in popularity. It has helped me find some cool new apps, as has the Mint Software Portal.

Re: request for changing default apps.

Brasero never worked for me. For example, while burning some audio files to a CD, the app just hung indefinitely on the 1st step - normalizing audio files - and just stopped responding. I downloaded GnomeBaker and it just rocks. Looks better, too. I wish GnomeBaker was installed by default, but at l...

Re: Feature request: Already installed - uninstall?

I'd like to see an uninstall option here as well. Even noob users will eventually want to uninstall software. And knowing at a glance when is installed and isn't with the option to uninstall would be a big help.

Re: DATABASE or CRM Program

You can also try Free CRM, which is a web-based CRM solution ALA SalesForce.com. There are free and premium versions, though the free version satisfied my needs.

Hive Rise - A fun free RTS Online game for Linux

Came across this the other day and it's a blast to play. Kinda like the Command and Conquer series for Windoze. It's easy to install, but adding it to Mint Install would be a welcome addition. Check it out and support gaming on Linux.

-Warning- it's highly addictive!

no concerns about losing data or apps - all that stuff is backed up 4x over.
I just do a clean install using the same partition that was there for Mint 6.

Re: Is anyone else thinking about Chrome OS?

I think really the biggest advantage of Chrome is that it will open people up to Linux who would've never considered it otherwise. It could serve as a good stepping stone from Windows to Linux. I would agree here. I recently installed gOS Gadgets 3.1 (http://www.thinkgos.com/gos/index.html) for a f...

Re: A few things to take from Windows 7 & Windows Home Server...

Not sure hot it exists today, but Knoppix was 100% a MSMC alternative. And I'm sure - still viable today. For the record, how many XP / Vista users actually CARE about a home media server. I mean - the day will come - but it's not happening tomorrow.

Re: LM Screencast project: progress check

Hey all. Found out about this thread from listening to the LM podcast that mentioned the Screencast Project and I thought I would throw my hat into the ring. I'm pretty versatile and have some time to help. Also been using Mint for a while. Let me know where this is at at present. I look forward to ...
