Re: Wireless problems in Mint 13 with ASUS N13 (0b05:17ab)

Well spotted - thanks.

Can you please explain the implications of this for me. i.e. how to proceed from here and get the driver to match up with my Linux kernel.

Remember that I currently have no way of getting internet to the affected PC for updates, etc.

Thanks to caf4926 and AlbertP for replying. Here are my responses to your suggestions: lsub -v No command 'lsub' found, did you mean: Command 'lsusb' from package 'usbutils' (main) Command 'qsub' from package 'gridengine-client' (universe) Command 'qsub' from package 'torque-client' (multiverse) Com...

Wireless problems in Mint 13 with ASUS N13 (0b05:17ab)

I am having trouble getting Linux Mint 13 (64 Bit, Maya) to recognise my ASUS N13 USB wireless network adapter. After trying advice from many forum posts from Linux users with problems with the N13, I have not resolved the issue. Thought I'd start a fresh support thread, to step through my issues st...

Re: Mint 13: Problem activating ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX dr

My situation is exactly the same as originally described. I can activate "ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX driver", but not the "post-release updates" driver.

Can a Linux Mint dev comment if this is simply because of a duplicate listing, as araujoms suggests above?

Re: Chromium sound stopped working / all other sound OK

I tried Opera and am getting no sound in that browser either. Firefox is still working fine. Could this be a plugin/driver/codec issue?

Any suggestions?

Perhaps it is a duplicate driver listing which needs to be deleted? Can anyone comment on this?

Re: [solved] Firefox text not displaying in browser

Guys, I worked out what the problem was! Prior to this problem arising, I installed a large number of fonts into Linux Mint. I used the following command: gksu nautilus /usr/share/fonts/truetype ...and then copied and pasted approx 1,000 fonts into a new folder within this directory. I believe the i...

Chromium sound stopped working / all other sound OK

Hi guys, I am running running Linux Mint 13 (64-bit, Cinnamon) and Chromium 18.0.1025.151 (the current release supported through Update Manager). Sound was working OK with Chromium until last week, until it suddenly stopped. I can still hear sound from other apps (e.g. VLC, Exaile, Firefox), but whe...

Re: Linux Mint 13 / Firefox 12 text not displaying in browse

Still no ideas on my problem? The problem is still persisting with the same websites I mentioned earlier. Although since Firefox is still my default browser, I am finding that some sites work fine, e.g. Nuvola's website and Launchpad page work fine... (...although the Captcha on their Reset Password...

Are the others with this problem using 64-bit Mint 13, or 32-bit? Thought it might be nice to clarify.

Re: Linux Mint 13 / Firefox 12 text not displaying in browse

I've just been clicking around to other webpages in Firefox and the only one that seems to display text properly so far is this: http://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/applets I can see the text header/subheader (Cinnamon/Love your Linux, Feel at Home, Get things Done!) and text descriptions under the...

[solved] Firefox text not displaying in browser

Hi guys, I am running running Linux Mint 13 (64-bit, Cinnamon) and Firefox 12.0 (aka Mozilla Firefox for Linux Mint 1.0). Firefox was working perfectly for 3 days, but when I turned on my computer this morning, something had broken. The stylesheets and images were displaying properly, but no text wa...

Re: MP3 playback not working

I am also having this problem with my fresh Mint 13 (64-bit) Cinnamon installation. I am hearing the 'welcome' sound which plays when booting into Linux, but can't hear audio from YouTube, MP3s, etc. Funny thing is that the sound was working fine when I installed Mint 2 days ago. However, yesterday ...

Mint 13: Problem activating ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX driver

I installed Mint 13 64-bit (Cinnamon edition) about 4 hours ago, and have successfully changed from generic graphics drivers to " ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX driver ". However, I see there is also an item listed on the 'Additional Drivers' screen called " ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX driver (post-release...

Mint 13 not shutting down cleanly - "hard lockup"

I am 4 hours into my Linux Mint 13 experience. Am still configuring and calibrating things. I thought I'd ask about an early problem I am having. On most occasions when I 'shut down' or restart Linux, things do not happen as expected. Instead I get a black screen with white text indicating that Linu...

Re: Unable to unmount external hard drive

Also, I tried the 'turn off the PC, unplug the drive and the turn on the power' solution again. I am getting the following error message when I press the down arrow of my keyboard: (process: 345): GLib-WARNING **: get pwuid_r(): failed due to unknown user id (0 sck from util-linux-ng 2.17.2 /dev/sda...

Re: Unable to unmount external hard drive

It sounds like you have at least part of your system files on that drive. Are you sure that you didn't install / or /home to the drive? You can't unmount part of you system directory while it's running and it'll give you that message at boot if part of it is missing. What directories exactly are on...
