Re: Linux Mint 8 x64 RC1 Bug Thread

I've noticed a problem with using Synergy to share a keyboard and mouse between 2 computers. The Mint 8 x64 machine is running the server, the other machine is running a custom-minimal Ubuntu 9.10 with X. Ever since I upgraded to Mint 8 x64 RC1, I have had problems with my shift keys and arrow keys ...

Re: Linux is a communist plot

That "comic" is not funny to me at all. It doesn't belong in a free society and does not reflect the ideas of the Linux family. In a free society, thats one of the ideals that makes up freedom; the ability to say something as looney-toons as is might sound to everyone else. You take the ability to ...

Re: How do you start Synergy at startup with KDE4?

To answer my own question: With GDM, there's 3 scripts that run at startup: /etc/X11/gdm/Init/Default /etc/X11/gdm/PostLogin/Default /etc/X11/gdm/Sessions/Default My problem was that I was looking for the respective KDE scripts under /etc/X11 but they are located in /etc/kde4/kdm and they are: /etc/...

Re: How do you start Synergy at startup with KDE4?

I told you, I tried that page: There is no kdm/Xsetup, and no kdm/Xstartup in /etc/X11 in KDE 4. Can I just create these files and follow the instructions at http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/autostart.html ?? As for an 'answer' to my problem, I'd like to know if you actually tried it before (and it w...

How do you start Synergy at startup with KDE4?

I've long been using Synergy with GNOME installs, but I just switched to the KDE version of Mint and can't seem to get Synergy up and running automatically. I tried following the instructions from the Ubuntu wiki and the Synergy homepage, but the instructions seem out of date for KDE 4.2/4.3. I'd li...

Re: Linux is a communist plot

This topic reminds me of an old RIAA comic... anybody remember the original? :P..

Re: Things I would like to see in future Mints

The only thing I really don't see a solution for is the Winamp problem. Winamp 2.81 just works better and has less cruft than any other audio player out, ever. I don't even listen to music when I'm on Linux (Except under a Virtual Machine), because there is plainly no equivalent. Have you tried Aud...

Lets Speculate on 8

I've tried a couple of the Karmic Alpha releases so far and I'm curious as to how some changes in Ubuntu will reflect on later Mint releases. Concerns: 1.) The new GDM login.. It's so new that there's not even a GUI to customize it. Will we be stuck with the ugly new GDM and no way to change the app...

Re: Things I would like to see in future Mints

Deluge instead of Transmission. VLC instead of Totem. An improved Pidgin that can actually best Skype (and on Windows!). Other than that, Mint is damn near perfect as is! Having an optional AWN config that automagically replaced the bottom panel might be sweet. Maybe a script that just did that fro...

NeuMint Icon Set (GNOME)

First off, this isn't any kind of official Mint release.. it's an icon theme I just built with a few other packs (Dropline Neu!, GNOME, GNOME Colors and the original-packaged Linux Mint). I actually did get my hands dirty a little and made some custom modifications, it's not JUST a rip and repack!.....
