Re: Windows start jumping back and forth on laptop

This is what it looks like. (Aha, you can't attach .mp4-files.)

I don't know where to look for the reason.

Windows start jumping back and forth on laptop

Has anyone else had this problem? Sometimes when I'm surfing in the web with Firefox and I click something with the mouse, the window starts jumping back and forth. I think that happens if my wrist touches something (not sure what) in the touchpad when I click with mouse. And when that happens, the ...

Re: Wine ongelma

Ties vaikka tuostakin olisi apua: https://www.winehq.org/docs/winedev-guide/wine-d...

Re: Kernel source tree?

Do you have source repos enabled in Software Sources? What are going to do with the source? With source code repos enabled, you should be able to apt-get source linux-image-$(uname -r) When it is done look for a folder named linux-3.19 or possibly linux-lts-vivid-3.19 Yes. I guess that's where the ...

Re: Info displays?

The problem is that usually the non-copyability is due to the fact that the info can't be marked. For example Firefox and System Info are such programs. I just wonder why they are made that way. Is 'inxi -Fxz' usually enough but not too much? It'd be nice to now to be able to provide the "right amou...

Info displays?

This is not really a Mint question, but: Does anyone know a good reason, why the info displays are usually made non-copyable? Like "System Info". It shows this and that about your system, but you can't copy the info for, say, pasting to a question on a forum. The same goes with a lot of programs. Wo...

[SOLVED] Kernel source tree?

Where can I find the kernel source tree for my current kernel?
(Mint 17.3 Cinnamon 64-bit)

My kernel is

Code: Select all

$ uname -r
3.19.0-32-generic
I checked in synaptic and found:
linux-source
linux-source-3.13.0

In both cases the latest version seems to be 3.13.0-83.
Maybe the right repo is missing?

Has anyone any experience if Mint 17 + MATE is too heavy?
How about xfce?
How well do programming tools, like eclipse, work with xfce?

Re: Installing Linux Mint 17 on Pentium M Processors

Watch out: 'forcepae' should be used with processors like Pentium M most of which actually support PAE, but don't have the flag. PAE is supported from 'Dothan' on, but (I understand), not by 'Banias'. You can tell by checking from 'system information': Family 6, Model 13 => Dothan Family 6, Model 9 ...

Re: Mint on Thinkpad T42

For info to others too.

From ubuntu forums:
Pentium M has PAE capability, it only lacks the PAE flag. Therefore it is possible to use fake-PAE.

Maybe you could check the logs using 'nano' or 'less'? Have you installed pm-utils? Have you checked the logs /var/log/pm-powersave.log and /var/log/pm-suspend.log? Have you come across this: http://askubuntu.com/questions/155352/problem-graphics-with-ati-radeon-x1270-rs690m-on-ubuntu-12-04 ? You ma...

Re: Using Linux Mint and Windows 8.1

Funny. I did install Mint on my work machine (Windows 8.1) that way just a while - maybe about a month - ago. Used the latest EasyBCD (2.2 the free version). I thought, maybe that way Windows updates leave my Linux boot in place. (Heard that sometimes Windows 8.x updates may replace boot manager wit...

Re: Using Linux Mint and Windows 8.1

Or you can use the Windows bootloader as primary boot loader: Install Windows 8.1 Install Linux. When the install by the side of Windows, select "something else". Select installation partition and check that the boot will be installed in the beginning of the '/' partition of Mint. Install Mint. Boot...

Mint on Thinkpad T42

Which is the latest recommendable mint release for Thinkpad T42 (Pemtium M)? Does fake PAE work fine? Any other hardware problems expected? I've been running Mint 13 MATE, but I seem to have problems with a RTOS debugging in virtual machine. Many SW packets are quite old and they don't seem to work ...

qemu on Mint 13

I tried to search, but: The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words: qemu. (Something should be done to the search. Most Linux commands are "too short".) So, which version of qemu would be best on 32-bit Mint 13 (MATE) for a small RTOS debugging? Where do ...

Re: Problems with driver for Canon pixma MP 140

The mystery is finally solved: USB port! The printer was connected to USB port supporting USB 2.0/3.0. I even tried another port, but that also happened to be USB2.0/3.0 port. Finally, after lengthy trials of this and that, I tried with an old laptop, and the printer worked fine, so it had to be HW....
