Re: kgb file extensions

No, it is easy. But I am now waiting through the second time I have done it, and the file does not seem to be opening. So I thought perhaps there was a way to open it directly through command line with a right-click.

Re: kgb file extensions

Thanks for the reply. I can usually get by without a GUI.

I would like to know, though, if there is a way I can open it from command line with a right-click. When the drop down comes, and I go to 'open with' is there a command I can enter in the custom command line option?

Thanks.

kgb file extensions

I have a file wrapped in .kgb archive. Anyone know a program or command to open it? I installed kgb archiver from Synaptic, but cannot find it in the list of available programs.

Wake up computer with mouse movement

I am in the process of setting up my new machine, running Mint 11 LXDE on a Biostar A880G+ motherboard with an AMD Phenom II CPU. I want to be able to bring the computer out of suspend with just a mouse movement or key stroke, instead of having to press the power button, which is the only thing that...

[SOLVED] Suspend not turning fan off

I just got a brand new custom-build computer, and I like it, except for one thing. When I put the computer into Suspend mode, the fan keeps going. This happens in Mint 11 LXDE (my main distro) and in Mint 9 LXDE, Mint 11 Main, and all others I have tried. The same thing happens on my mom's new compu...

Linux Mint: The new Ubuntu?

Interesting article (to me, anyway) from extremetech. I'm sure others here have read it. http://www.extremetech.com/computing/104581-linux-mint-the-new-ubuntu In the Linux world, a war has been raging for a couple years. At stake are the hearts and minds of its user base, the combatants the various ...

Re: Problem with Package Manager [no longer solved]

This keeps happening. The fix richyrich gave me works every time, but only for a couple days. I do not use the package manager that often, but it is annoying to have to fix this every time. Is it something about the interactio between Synaptic and LXDE (I am on Mint 9 LXDE)? Is it something about th...

Re: Just installed the latest spin of LMDE and need help

Update manager fails with "Failed to retrieve packages" or however it is worded. Get the same message from the package manager. I haven't tried other browsers. Don't know if there are any others installed by default, and package manager not working. I really just want to play around with LMDE. I lik...

Here it is from my working OS. I can post it from LMDE later if needed, but I am pretty busy on-line right now and cannot switch to the one that won't go on-line. eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:19:db:a3:a1:26 inet addr:192.168.0.64 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::219:dbf...

Just installed the latest spin of LMDE and need help

I love the way it looks, for a Gnome desktop. I usually hate Gnome. But as soon as I get everything set up, the network won't work. Can't find any pages on FF, and cannot find updates or software through the package manager. I've been running Mint 9 LXDE for a long time with no problem, and the orig...

Re: UEFI secure booting and the future

This looks to me like another way for MS to actually own a computer that someone has purchased. It is taking freedom away from end users, and actually taking the rights to their own machine. This is something I am trying (mostly failing) to teach people in my community. It is one of the reasons I ad...

Re: seems hopeless, can anybody explain this

Have you tried going back to LM 7? It's possible there is a kernel incompatibility issue if your laptop is very old. I have never run into that problem, but I have heard of it. LM 7 uses an older kernel that works better with older hardware. I have loved LM since I started using it right after (I th...

Backing up files on a Windows box

I'm not sure this is the right forum for this question, but I did not see a better place for it. My mom uses a Windows machine at work because several of the programs she needs will run only in Windows. Too much headache to run a virtual machine. So we got her a new computer and we now need to trans...

Re: Is Ubuntu Driving Users Away?

I haven't used Ubuntu since 9.04, so I have never used the Unity interface (am downloading it now and will try it out on one of my other partitions). I though 9.04 was really ugly (way too brown, even after I had played with it and changed some) and I did not like the way it worked, menu bar at the ...

Some thoughts on games

I'm really not a gamer. I spend most of my time surfing (read: hitting the StumbleUpon button over and over). But the few games I do enjoy (Zuma is number one) are made only for Windows and Mac. Now, it seems to me that if a game can be made for Mac, which is Unix-based, then it ought not be too har...

Re: Noob question about LMDE 11 vs this weekend's releases

It looks to me like you are asking the difference between Mint 11 on LXDE and Linux Mint Debian, but you have it worded oddly. I'm not a guru, and I do not know all of the differences, but I can give you a little bit of info. Mint 11 on LXDE is based on Ubuntu (maybe Lubuntu), with the LXDE desktop....

Re: need to go back to firefox 5.0 (NOT SOLVED)

Did all of that, had FF5 running, then after I closed it and came back later, it would not come up. My launcher did not work, though it had after the install, and FF5 was not listed anywhere in my menu, nor was any other Firefox. I really hate FF6. So any more help getting FF5 back wold be greatly a...
