Re: LMDE 64 freezes

I use Aptitude update and dist-upgrades whenever I see the check mark turn in the update icon or once a day, whichever comes first. Then I read what it says before agreeing to allow it. It's taken me a year, but, hard lessons make you stronger.

Any sensible person, would just turn the monitor upside down.
My wires are too short from my laptop in a drawer to the monitor on the desk. Hey vrkalak have you tried Xfce4 on LMDE? It rocks.

Re: Recent Update Makes LMDE Gnome Desktop...

Unless you deleted it (not a good idea) fall back on the previous kernel. Check Synaptics on the 32 bit system you are using. I am using the PAE kernel version from Liquorix, and the newer kernel upgraded but I am still booting into the PAE. My point is you should have Something there that works. B...

Re: Recent Update Makes LMDE Gnome Desktop...

Unless you deleted it (not a good idea) fall back on the previous kernel. In the 64 bit version of Liquorix the 2.6.36-31 is already obsolete and they have 2.6.36-32 in Synaptics Package Manager. I was upgrading this morning and the original Kernel was being changed, 2.6.32-2 was moving up to 2.6.32...

Re: Can't install Mint on Dell Inspiron 8100

I doubt if the Partitions are your problem, should be two, one for / and one for swap, Did you set it for Ext3 or Ext4? Sounds more like a Disk problem. If you checked your md5sum then burn at 3x and as rivenathos suggested with a DVD.

Maybe because Ubuntu smells like Coffee and they wanted a different flavor?

Re: 64-bit kernel freezes on Mint10 and LMDE

bobcollard: did you have the problem with LMDE stock kernel? My problem with LMDE is that the system will quickly freeze before I can complete the kernel update you propose. Maybe I will have to wait until the next liveCD release. This is the reason why I'm searching the good kernel for mint10. No,...

Re: 64-bit kernel freezes on Mint10 and LMDE

No problems with 2.6.36-3.dmz.1-liquorix-amd64, check it in Synaptics. You will have to get the Repo for Liquorix though.
Just go here: http://liquorix.net/. Add the specified repository to your /etc/apt/sources.list

Re: cannot restore backup

Just a suggestion, if you have a Mint 9 Live Disk lying around you might try booting from it and use the restore in it. I don't know if they changed the application or updated it.
