Re: Did I Buy A Knock-Off CPU?

Why don't you wait until you get it to find out? How are we supposed to know before you?

I didn't know him that well, but it was easy to tell he was a good man. I was speechless when i saw his email telling me i had a PM.

Re: FREE PC BUILDING SERVICE...

USP? What's that? Well, if I wanted a profit I would probably have to overstep my bounds and go charge for repairs w/o any credentials just yet. Is there really a way that I can guarantee to earn the money I would invest in building a computer by selling it online, or are there flaws to that too? M...

Well this is the first i've heard, i was left speechless, and i didn't even know him that well but it was plain to see how much of an influence he had on the forums. Rest in peace Husse, you will be missed.

Re: FREE PC BUILDING SERVICE...

If you want the experience then i suppose you could buy some components yourself, put them together and sell them on the bay for a slight profit. Would have to have a USP though, and the problem about repairs might still exist. Maybe if you put Linux on them only people who are experienced enough to...

Re: FREE PC BUILDING SERVICE...

In theory it's good but when you do things like that people automatically assume that you're responsible for the lifetime warranty of the machine, and will call you whenever they have a problem. That and it's doubtful that people would 'risk' their money this way (and yes, i know how easy it is - i ...

Re: iPad Killer?

My point was, Halo was a great game for the time. I've even seen Apple fanboys who laughed at the idea of the iPad (when you need that special something for your iPeriod ;) ). Not that i'm a fan of tablets, but even the Archos 9 or Dell Mini 5 actually have some use, and so killed the iPad before it...

Good job i'm not in the US then... not that there's any chance of us getting a half decent government anyway. We had a pretty nice government when Bill Clinton was our President. lol Well we had a pretty nice government when Michael Foot was our Prime Minister. Everybody might not have liked him, b...

Re: Ubuntu drops Human Theme

The whole "freedom" and "elegance" thing has got to go. That means nothing to real people, only software heads. The phrase only makes Mint seem unapproachable to most people. If you are reading this, you are not "most people". Try to view this as if you were that relat...

Re: Ubuntu drops Human Theme

Why exactly did they change the search to Yahoo? I'd have thought they wouldn't do that since they're in league with Microsoft, at least Google are doing their bit for the open source movement.

Re: Your Top Distributions

I tried Arch, but i couldn't for the life of me get on with the 'installer'. I even let it completely wipe my hard drive, but it wouldn't boot. So yeah... but i'll tell you something - any distro that includes space invaders in the bootloader is 'box ready' in my books ;)

Re: Your Top Distributions

1) Mint - Just as i'm still quite a Linux newbie and the interface is (for the minute) second to none. 2) Slitaz - Amazing that something like that can fit in 30MB, i wouldn't mind using it as my everyday OS really. 3) Debian - Rock solid, stable and bridges the gap between the above two. Especially...

Re: Ubuntu Music Store official - what about Isadora?

I don't know... it looks good enough as it is but they'l undoubtedly polish it off. I like the 'urban' feel Shiki has but as the name suggests Ubuntu's new theme is based around 'light'. The whole point of Mint is to bring elegance to Ubuntu, but what happens if it gets it itself? And yes, i know al...

Re: Ubuntu Music Store official - what about Isadora?

I don't think it is going to be incorporated into Isadora, just like Ubuntu One. We're really going to have to rethink our strategy if Ubuntu 10.04 offers a default interface that is, or looks to be, at least the equal of Shiki. They're having a complete overhaul which will not only bring more peopl...

Well we're going to have to do as they are doing - a complete refresh. But i don't think the website could be much better designed than it already is. The forums are fine, maybe change a few colours. Shiki is getting a bit old now though...
