Re: Case Modding...

Oh, that's not metal? :p

Yeah, poweder coating wouldn't work to well because as i understand it it relies on static to get an even coat, like how they paint cars.

Re: Case Modding...

Metallic spray paint would work but wouldn't be very professional, even if you were very careful. How much would it cost to get it powder coated? *Spray painting - cheap, okay but the effect breaks down if you look to closely *Powder coaring - more expensive but amazingly professional. Make you choi...

Re: Mint PC Builders Club

Hmm, ATI's Linux support has got a hell of a lot better in the last few years. Somehow i think my hardware buying habits are similar to my software using habits. I nearly always go for the 'little guy', who offers 80% of the performance for 50% of the price. Not saying that Linux is 80% of Windows t...

Mint PC Builders Club

Just thought it would be nice to have somewhere on the forum dedicated to PC Building. How many of you are self builders? As it stands i have an E2140 system but i'm trying to save up for an Athlon Quad.

[SOLVED] Is KDE64 the only 64 bit edition?

Just trying to recommend a distro for somebody who's folding, and as i understand that means it has to be 64 bit. But the only 64 bit edition i can see on the sight is KDE, is there not one for the main release? Thanks.

Re: ELO Touchscreens

I'd say the former, since i'm 15. Kinda inherited my dad's taste in music though... although they only really have one good song.

I don't think this is really helping the OP though ;)

7 hits... not the most reliable count of how good a distro is though.

Yeah, but what i got from that was that they can't use 32 bit OS's with 64bit CPUs... which you clearly can.

Re: How to convert Video to mp3 ?

If the video is MP4 then you should be able to use Sound Converter (package manager) to do it.

Re: New Slogan?

Although there might be legal issues involved in stealing another companies slogan ;) Still, as i said before the slogan is fine for what Mint is, a distro based and improving on Ubuntu (which might be hard with 10.04). But if we ever want to branch off and become a completely separate distro then i...

Hmm, if Crunchbang works but Slitaz doesn't then speed definitely isn't the issue.

What i don't get about that article is that they said they had to use an older system because it was only available in 32 bit form... what?

Precisely why my offer still stands. To be honest if you have above average technical know how (which we all obviously do) then anything other than building your own desktop is a bit silly ;)

Re: Crunchbang "Statler" Under Development!

Then you clearly haven't tried enough ;) You jest  After 5 years of trying? I must admit I don't try much with it these days, in most major distros the required specs are too high to even make it worth while. There is also the fact that I now have something that works on it (Crunchbang Lite)...

Re: Crunchbang "Statler" Under Development!

Like Oscar799 I run Crunchbang Lite on an old laptop and it is one of only two distros that will actually run on that machine (the other is Slax). I recently got hold of a magazine disc that had a collection of lightweight distros on it, there were 11 boot choices on the live dvd. Of those 11 only ...
